The Essex Hunter
I shot a vixen late Monday afternoon and returned yesterday around the same time after walking a piece of land for the Reds with a friend who I am mentoring for. No Reds but an opportunity of a shot came up, I spotted a fox in roughly the same position I had shot the vixen on Monday, and it was standing over the vixen eating it! So he got his self set and let loose the 95 grn. I only had my phone so went back this morning to try and take a better picture. First time I have seen it live so to speak! But the vixen was carrion and the dog fox must have been very hungry. TEH
bi9johnny
never seen that ever before and the first thing i thought was it looks like its been eaten from the back down towards the gut when usually things are eaten from the softer areas first i.e. the backside or the guts
camokid
last year i think when we had a bad winter i shot a couple feeding on a dead fox that i had shot the week before. i think its just to much of a easy meal to pass on and with the temp dropping it makes sense

al4x
its good to see first hand, we always wonder if foxes have a hand in the disposal of carcasses of their own as we usually have nothing left within a fortnight bones included. It has to be remembered its bloody cold at the moment and they are having to work hard for food so I guess it was an easy meal Edited December 13, 2012 by al4x
FOXHUNTER1
Ive seen it once before . Shot a fox one night and left it at the side of a track , continued lamping the rest of the farm and returned to the initial fox around an hour later to find its shoulder had been eaten . CANNIBALS they certainly are !!

GRamsay
I Do,nt Suppose Foxes can be to fussy when it comes to eating things, Otherwise there would,nt be to many of them about, The,ve got to eat when they get the chance of anything
henry d
They cannibalise their litter mates so I wouldn`t think it too unusual.
Elby
Used to feed foxes with foxes all the time. Kill one and open it's guts. Nothing brings a fox in quicker than the smell of another fox. Worked better than sheeps guts
