Where to go in Caribbean?

I'm looking to book this year's hols- the missus wants to go to the Caribbean (I hate flying and have managed to avoid it for the last 7 years, I've been told to grow a pair and I don't think I'm going to be able to dodge the bullet this year). Trouble is deciding where to go. We want somewhere with great beaches, activities/sights and plenty of restaurants/bars.

So far it's between Barbados, Cuba and St Lucia, can anyone recommend a resort here, or suggest alternatives?

We are off to Aruba this year First time we have been there but really looking forward to it meant to be great diving there, Done the Domican a couple couple of years ago was bloody great, a very poor place but the locals really know how to enjoy themselves and help you enjoy yourself.

I have done a few islands, Antigua being my favourite at the moment but I am going to Cuba in March which is half the price of anywhere else in the Caribbean so with my wife and 3 kids has saved me a good few grand.

We've thought about Antigua, can you recommend a resort?

Tortola is fantastic. Barbados is really nice as is Grenada and St Maarten. Dominica is really lovely and green and has some of the beat diving spots if you are into that.

French Caribbean runs on euros so is expensive and full of grumpy french people ( st Barts and Martinque).

I am off to Tobago in a few week and already have my fishing gear packed and a boat trip booked for a days fishing!

The only places I have been in the Caribbean which I wouldn't recommend are Isla margarita which is not that nice and pretty dangerous and also St Vincent as it has a distinct lack of sandy beaches.

I would sugest a cruise! And before u ask I am 36 not 63!. Me and the wife have been crusing for past 5 years most easters around caribbean. Great food on ship, loads of things to do on and off ship and you get a great taste of each island.

I would recomend Princess Cruises.

Are you staying at the Marriot Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino? Even if you are not, take a trip there, speak nicley to reception and they will let you on to the private isalnd they have. It is about a 10 min trip in their private moor boat...it is like willy wonker trip.

Great private island/beach with loads to do.
