39TDS
Credit for restraining him but not for killing him. Maybe he deserved it but the people that did it weren't the ones that should decide that. Besides anything else I expect they will have it on their conscience for the rest of their lives. I think they will struggle with it.

keg
I don't think they set out to kill him, they just reacted and restrained him, his death was unfortunate. He was a career criminal and had only been released the day before. I don't have any sympathy.
-Mongrel-
Credit for restraining him but not for killing him. They didn't kill him, he was still alive but unconcious when the Police arrived. He died due to an existing medical condition that was aggravated by being held down, or so says the article. If he wasn't attempting an armed robbery, he wouldn't have died that day. I have little sympathy for him if I'm honest.
Bleeh
This is why, when what ever industry you are trained in forced restraint you'll always have one fellow in the team that's job is to do nothing but much sure that the fellows head isn't being crushed/neck broken/air supply removed. Next time you watch a Cop show, you'll see that one fellow will run to the head of the chap being arrested and do very little other that check that he's alright. UKPoacher
It was reported that the robber had been convicted of a previous armed robbery three years ago. That's three years inside at maximum for an armed robbery.
Steppenwolf
Well, if more people started doing that and the British government didn't start prosecuting have a go heroes then the criminals would soon get the hint, one would hope. I believe the attitudes of the police towards these things may be slowly changing.
Reece
Credit for restraining him but not for killing him. Maybe he deserved it but the people that did it weren't the ones that should decide that. Besides anything else I expect they will have it on their conscience for the rest of their lives. I think they will struggle with it. I don't think anyone will have a major struggle with their conscience for killing someone who could potentially have killed them. Assuming that it was the people who killed him. Something else could have been a factor, such as an existing medical condition, like Mongrel said. Scully
As far as I'm concerned,if you go out with the intention of misleading people into believing the thing you're pointing at them is a gun(whether a toy or a banana in a sock),then you have to be prepared to suffer the consequences.Tough titties.
