ozzy518
All the big numbers of pigeons that we saw today have been on wheat fields.
Tim Kelly
Driving back from Suffolk at the weekend there were more pigeons about than I've seen for ages. They were everywhere, on plough, drilling, wheat, rape and grass fields. Great to see!
Pigeonwings123
I've been shooting on grass today. About 150 wen we got there and finished up with 22. My dad was shooting over rape and had
aga man
Hi there There are loads of pigeons feeding over the river that borders my permission but not touching my rape just wondered what it is there feeding on it looks a bit like rape but sheep have been grazing it , any ideas is it kale ? Ta it could be kale but that would be quite tall. i reckon it will be stuble turnips. some farmers drill turnips into the stubbles in autumn. when the turnip grow the sheep graze them. The pigeons up here are still on rape. a few are on grass paddocks but the birds i shot going to roost on friday were stuffed full of rape. JDog
Booty68 if you read Pigeon Controllers post recently he shot some on stubble turnips which is probably what you have seen them on. As Aga man says they are mostly full of rape but I have seen some on grass, some on clover and some eating chickweed amongst the winter wheat. Cranfield
Mostly on the rape, but more and more are on the ivy berries. There are also a few new shoots of clover in the meadows (a bit early), so they will be there soon.
kyska
In the East Midlands, they are still hammering the rape, even after they've done most fields over, seen lots on the hedges recently. Doing better on roost shooting, we walk off hundreds and hundreds, set up and..........nothing.
Fatcatsplat
Bizarrely, clover in South Essex. I say bizarrely as there's tons of other stuff to eat
