pigeon controller
We started the day at 08.00 in the snow and drove out to a field on the edge of our area as DB had seen a good number of birds in the week feeding on a large rape field. When we arrived the snow had turned to rain and we found the field it had approx three hundred birds on we clapped them off to see if they would return and they lifted some went to a small spinney and the others went straight back on the rape.We asked at a cottage next to the field and they told us the farmer and his location which was about five miles away , so we set off the ask permission. When we arrived at the farm the farmers wife informed us that he was out feeding stock and would be back in an hour, we asked if he had a mobile number and she informed us that he had one but the phone was in the house. We asked if it was worth trying the catch up with him and she said i don't know his route. We decided the sit it out and eat our sarnies. When the farmer came back he said he had no problem with us shooting but he did not own the land so could we go to the land owner, he then gave us directions which was back passed the rape. We drove up the drive to the farm and knocked the door. We were informed that the landowner was away on holiday and they could not give us permission and they were not prepared to contact him on such a trivial matter as it would be night at his location. Rowlocks!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was now 12.00 and we started to look at other options and on our way back we saw about one hundred birds in some trees and they were dropping down onto some sheep tunips, so we asked and we got the go ahead. the weather was now a steady drizzle and we slid our way round the field to get the wind behind us and set up. It all stopped at 16.00 and we ended up with 49 birds pick up. So it ended up a good day.

JDog
I have said it before but your perseverance really pays off. And what was that about pigeon shooting being.....'a trivial matter'? If only they knew. I hope that you have since called the farmer for future shooting opportunities. He may be on holiday with Swisstony in Thailand. Edited February 10, 2013 by JDog
