DSPUK
The slabs are Aurundel Buff Riven -- edges are straight but pain to get level - The guy who laid the 2x2 at back did a cracking job - I then got him to lay 18x18 down side of house - he did a good job on those but ened up 2" too high at front of house (he didn't listen hard enough )so 2 lines of front slab's need sloping up about 1-2" to meet. His prices are reasonable but just thought I would look for someone else. Long time since I got 3 pages on a thread. Thanks for the "help" Dave
chady
That's £240 a day!!! Can't you get a pole to do it for £70 a day Or an illegal Indian for £40 a day Or do you have to pay a unskilled widow cleaner more than a qualified experienced skilled tradesman There's always window cleaning, believe me as someone who knows its always there, theres always somebody wants their windows cleaned. RED BEARD
i'd butt the slabs up to each other, that way they hold each other tight and theres a lot less work involved.if you used a morter gun theres over a days work pointing.if they're butted and you get any small gaps you can just brush some kiln dried sand in on a nice dry day. In London anyway. *excluding gas fitters and electricians Edited March 3, 2013 by Vince Green

To clean the windows on the average central London 3 storey townhouse is £100-120. Are you telling me you couldn't average 2-3 a day? And the solicitor we use charges £200 an hour. Not shut up, wake up

Vince Green
Can't you find a Polish one that'll work for washers No £200 an hour for a solicitor is about average, But in the window cleaning the companies that clean the windows in central London employ lots of Polish and Lithuanian workers and pay them half if they are lucky. The big problem is the parking, you have to keep the van moving because there is nowhere to park so you have to pay somebody to be behind the wheel all the time and drive round the block when the warden turns up. Vince Green
I meant the solicitors. I don't think Polish solicitors are allowed to work here. That the beauty of some of these professions, they are ring fenced. Anyway, I'm off now to the Ansell Adams exhibition at Greenwich. seph234
silly generalisation and yet more slagging off of your own. I know loads of brits who work their cobblers off and do a straight job for a fair price. I know of loads of foreigners who i wouldnt touch with a barge pole. The reason you pay £70 a day is cos their heart is still in poland. Those that live here full time and have all the u.k. bills and mortgage and dont live 10 to a room all charge the £183 a day. I cant believe you have fallen for the government anti-brit propaganda. Hit the Nail on the head, its the cost of living that is killing our prices, if i worked for £70 pound a day it wouldnt cover my mortgage etc, the poles living ten to a house sharing the rent can do this but they also opt to pay tax in there home country or not at all, im not knocking the poles as i have worked alongside many, some are good some are bad but pretty much the same as british workers.
