Steed Update

Sometime back I reversed under some low branches and snapped the ariel on the Steed, replacement cost £12.89 plus VAT

A few weeks ago I reversed into a tree despite the reversing sensors, which were/are working (driver error, long story but a good excuse)

I broke the rear bumper (no bodywork damage), which would need replacing, a job I could do myself.

I contacted the dealer and ordered the part, cost £42.66 plus VAT.

Delivery time for the part? 3 days "yes 3 days" :good:

Sprayed in at a cost of £75.00.

The Steed is now back in pristine condition and looking good.

So first problem overcome without any hassle  .

thats just nasty

Great Wall do now have their own entry on autotrader and 48 cars on there already which will give a guide to if they hold their value

I have no thoughts of selling so would not be of interest, did not realise they had sold so many, I thought I was special, the idiot in the Pigeon Watch Village.

Most of the cars listed are by the dealers and do not show the VAT which is a little naughty.

you are amongst just over 600 if how many left is anywhere near right :good:

Lack of vat is just because they are commercials all the nearly new pickups tend to be listed like it looking through a lot of them look like their demonstrator vehicles

Put a big tow bar on back !! That what I use as a reversing sensor .. When the cars behind alarm goes off it means you are in the parking space ;-)

Also takes the brunt if any hits you from behind, I had someone gently hit me at a junction with no damage to my car but as he reversed off his bumper stay wrapped round my towball.

How did we get onto price and resale value?

The thread was about my careless driving, the cost of the repair and the price and speed that the spares arrived.

That would not have helped

You backed into a tree "inspite the fact you had sensors" and you say a Camera wouldn't help?

The camera would offer a full view of the rear of the car plus the area behind it!

Granted! Perhaps not against the low branches but backing into a tree? Surely it would help.

The story is, I reversed up almost to the tree, I knew it was there.

I stopped.

I had forgotten something, and was going to get out of the car to get it.

The phone rang, I answered it, hung up and put the car into reverse and bang, a camera or reversing bleepers would not have helped, it was a moment of absent mindedness.

My fault entirely, no one else to blame.

Only joking Terry!!!

The parts prices are very tempting by any stretch of the imagination. If that was any other 4x4, including all the popular ones here, the cost would put a tear in your eye.

Glad it's working out for you. I hope you get many years good service from it.

Doesn't driving have an age limit?

No not really, every ten years you must update the picture on the license to make it valid, at 70 you must reply to a note to keep your license, same thing next every, 10 years you need to update the picture.Only at 90 after updating photo you will need to do in 3 years to keep the license valid with a new photo, In May when I renew my fathers at age 93 I can update you how long it will be till next photo renew stage, and no he does not have a diabled badge.

You should of got a Landrover. It would of knocked the tree down. :-)

I was thinking that.

the wife reversed my Disco into an old transit, the damage wrote the transit off, it left white paint on the Disco bumper.
