Hi Evo hope ur match went well? I had a crackin days fishin on tue pb perch 2lb 10oz happy man!

Any way to the point, does your scope have pa on it/does ur NV work ok without pa scope?

Cheers pal

Paul.

hi paul, its not got PA mate , I tried my nv on a hawke scope that did and it worked fine,i have found that the top lenses have too many coatings on the lenses and are not as good as the bushnell banner I,m using I think its a Chinese copy but have to say works very very well,

as for the fishing I had 253lb in the match and came 3rd , totally unreal ha ha

the middle one with the t20 standard head baz I fitted a 38mm aspheric lens and with the standard droppin and the oslon it has a very tight beam and is brill to 200 for eye shine and 150 for shooting , I did it whilst experimenting in my shed with different led,s,,the beam on it is tighter than the other two

hi lads I have repeatedly been asked for a parts list to make my homemade night vision setup so here goes,

1. ultrafire 501b torch bay 190960535183

2. 3.5inch lcd screen bay 290923525907

3. 12v rechge batt pack bay 390567122319

4 BNC male to phono rca bay 220719587009

5 BNC female to female bay 321092277964

6 1 to 4 splitter cable bay 251274012997

7 IP68 cable gland 20mm bay 110925658840

. 1/3 ccd black and white bullet camera (moreton alarms tel 0151 630 0000 )

please note ; for the torch you will need a AHorton lens and droppin fitted with an oslon black IR led as soon as I sort a supply out for these I will let you know , this is what will give you your ir illumination you will also need some either carbon tubing or silicone tubing to fit over your scope and to also take the cable gland which will hold your bullet camera in place

please note this setup is more than adequate for air rifle ranges and .22 rf aswell but you will need to have a different modification to your torch to take it to further distances ,

also their is another torch build that will take you out to 200+ yrds but this will cost you £60 to make and then the cost of the IR droppin which will be around £35 - 45 also depending on availability

you will also have to buy a couple of fittings to fit the monitor and torch to your rifle, this also costs money so please take this into consideration when making your build,,

if anyone needs any help regarding the build then please don't hesitate to contact me and I will help where I can

good luck and don't forget this build is for air rifle and upto 100yrds ranges,, modifications will need to be made to the torch for further distances

all the best Evo

special note ;; special thanks to mick miller and also some of the lads off the NV forum for letting me pick their brains in improving my NV setup,,without your appreciated help the bunnies and ferals would still not fear me as they do now

as said hope this helps ,,ALL THE BEST EVO

Superb reply bud thank you.

Very interested in the torch build that will do 200yds. Would like to make it red as opposed to ir. Any more info on that beastie bud?

Many thanks.

Bazza.

hi baz I will put the parts on here for ya mate, its the beast in the picture not used it with a red beam but with the white beam is is unreal so it should perform very well with a red LED instead of a filter on the front end which will lower its performance,,i,ll sort the list out mate and stick it on here asap for ya mate

here is the list mate for the torch build

3 http://dx.com/p/17mm-1050ma-single-mode ... -5v-127687

for running off a 12 volt battery

3 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-DC-Power- ... 2a292770fc

you will need to fit a red led to the torch but I will sort a decent red LED out and then give you a link,,

the first part mate is to build the torch running off one battery but I think it would be better run from a 12 volt battery but you will need to fit the 12v driver in the torch this will give you some cracking results

special thanks to the crow for giving me the list

hope this helps mate any problems give me a shout

cheers EVO

Evo,you will do a fair bit of searching for the perfect red led behind an aspheric, not as easy as a white light!Tried a fair few, gets costly, plus no doubt best with a dimmer, you probably will have to build a custom job, around a lens,to accommodate driver and dimmerfor best results. You alternatively use a flashlight build, easy enough, but will most likely not be dimmable, also what die size you want say over a 100yds,varies with leds and what lens, currently using a 50mmlens and a costly red led in a Maglite conversion and outperforms a LF170 red filter combo easily! Also testing another led behind a 60mm aspheric a lot tighter but sweet, happy searching and testing, and much soldering but its fun,,,,,

P.S sorry forgot to mention,a 12vconversion is pretty straight forward to run lamp/screen/camera for the flashlight, one of my first builds, tried to link a picture but the server don't like imgur for some reason.P.P.S there are better lenses for the Crelant, which will make a difference,as really its just a host for a 66mm lens....

My 501 with 28mm lens and red Cree xpe will hit 340 yards with ease. 200 yards on a fox sized target at 14 times mag.

Next led will have three modes and a memory. 10%, 60% & 100% which will give me close in mode, mid range and long range.

Put it in a torch with a 66 mm head like the x searcher and the results are ridiculous!

for air rifle ranges mate the standard torch (501b) fitted with a dx lens and a oslon black IR will work perfect,

sounds like you are confused over how to make one , do you have any soldering experience ? if not your best bet would be to get someone to build you a droppin which just sits behind your lens a droppin is a term use for the reflector/bulb/led , hope this helps

thanks for that ,, I am swinging to the XPE cree as the report on this seem very good but as you said will need a dimmer for close up work,,the experiment has begun lol

Evo,the dimmer is handy, whilst lamping, best cree xp-e I"ve used is a red/orange one 154lm at 700ma if I remember correctly, prefered it over the red,Olsons didntt cut it,for brightness and intensity found the LZ4"s do the business, get warm though, need a good heatsink.Tried various colours, amber and red bestdont like green!also try a variety of makes of lenses,be surprised in the differences in performance!Your not far away EVO,should show you, before you start ordering leds! Also Heswaall aldi got rolson flashlights in,a cheaper alternative to a crelant head, but you will need a lens......
