fuzzypigeon
I've been using traditional game by gamebore 28g 6's for the 20g
Cranfield
It is a shame that 20 bore cartridges are so much more expensive that 12 bore cartridges. The same situation exists with 16 bore and .410 cartridges. It appears the reason is that the Manufacturers do not have the same volume of sales. I use a 20 bore semi auto sometimes for decoying and use Gamebore Traditional Game cartridges. You don't often see "deals" on 20 bore cartridges, in the same way you do with 12 bore and they all seem to be priced about the same. I prefer a 20 bore from a hide. I bought a few thousand RC JK 6 T3 No 7 (UK 6.5 shot) 26g 4/5 years ago and at the time they worked out at £48 a slab. Now they are nearer £72. Also picked up a couple of thousand Hull Sterling Game 28g No 6 soon after Hull rebranded this cartridge to the Hull High Pheasant Extreme 20. Old packaging so these worked out at just under £50 a slab. My experience is you can usually find a deal if you can sniff around and buy a few thousand at a time. Guest cookoff013
ok, the costings are usually worked out as... £30 /k primers £30 /k wads for starters, thats the standard basic costs.... now for the cheapest and probly poor shell (slow).. lead, 3.4 * 24 = 81.6 (£82) (24 gram shot) powder £40 @ 1.05gram per shot total £182 /k and would be a slow load, 1200fps max low recoil, and adequate, maybe dump a 5 in their. that is the cheapest load ever. would be + / - £10-£15 dump an extra £40 on that for decent powder and a little extra lead, then you`re cooking ! DEADLY PLUMBER
My son shoots a 20g he has been using Sipe 28gram 6s. That are not the cheapest. But for pigeons and rabbits. They do the business no problem.

Floating Chamber
Homeloads all the way. I have NEVER bought a box of 20 gauge in over 50 years. If reloading didn't save, I would not do it. Edited November 9, 2013 by Floating Chamber

markthspark
Fiocchi GFL 28 gram #6 (actually 5 1/2 ish as Italian size) every time for clean kills on anything from pigeon to high pheasants . Used to use Eley CT's in 6 shot but for some reason they stopped this cracking little cartridge you now have to buy the more expensive Hi-Flyer but still a cracking cartridge! 1/4 choke in both barrels
