Ticking pipes

Any suggestions please guys?

My heating system at home is just 4 years old, and though we had a little creaking and ticking of pipes from the off, the problem is getting worse.

When the heating comes on or goes off the noises are becoming unbearable.

Is there anything that can be done without ripping it out and starting again?

Sound like expansion and contraction noise from the pipes rubbing the wooden joists and pipe clips.

Quite normal to get noise, mine is quite loud sometimes but it's just ignored as nowt can really be done without opening up walls and floors.

Keep the heating on full time (24 Hours) as it's caused when metal expands or contracts due to changes in temperature! :good:

the plumber at our last flat said he kept his on set to 15 deg all the time so his house was constantly warm not roasting but warm and as his pipes were always at the same temp no expansion /contraction noise.its an idea see if it stops the clatter. :hmm:

My wife is a descendant of the lizard family, if the temp drops below 22 degrees she starts to panic!

Strange that it has become more intrusive, as others have said its expansion and contraction of metal pipes as they heat and cool. It could even be a few to tight holes through joists! If pipes are free to move the tick tick of thermal movement should be less. I have seen a lot of problems where installers have buried copper pipes in concrete with no allowance for expansion solder joints can be broken in a few years.
