Jame
I've shot OSR a few times over the last 4 weeks, had bags ranging from 6-55. As above the birds are about but what seems a perfect field 1 day can be empty the next. Flight lines seem to be changing alot, last night I had 2 hours on the edge of a pea field with a bag of 4 to show for it, futher down the field birds were dropping in until 8pm (didnt have net ect with me or I would of moved) with a nice stream from seemed to be a flight line. I've just got back from 3 hours of watching fresh air and not a single pigeon to be seen on the spot that yesterday seemed just the place to be
TIGHTCHOKE
I covered 7 farms with a guest yesterday, no flight lines at all, ended up back at the first farm and went out for a walk along the tree lines! My guest took the 3 birds that I shot. Better days must be coming along soon!
fenboy
I am in Cumbria at the moment and three of us went shooting for three hours....got 1 pigeon and two crows. I was that sick I left the pigeon for the two buzzards that were looking very hungry. The daft thing is I have just purchased 2,000 cartridges from my mate to use in the Fens.....three years worth by the sound of it Fenboy? Yeah at least 3 years worth , at least shootings a cheap hobby when your not err shooting !!
yickdaz
not even been out for 4 weeks now peas are not grown around here, spring rape is very rare on our perms none this year , never get birds going on winter rape with low spots this time of year around here either all drillings are done so no point going out really so save fuel and time and go out when I know there's a good chance of getting into some

cocknee
It seems to be the same as every other year here though maybe a little later I don't expect to shoot any decent bags for at least another 2 - 3 weeks when all the leaf buds are out, then will be looking on spring rape peas and a later on laid barley then laid wheat. Other parts of the country probably have other crops worth looking at.
bunny_blaster
DB and I have been suffering following being sprayed during the last post three weeks ago. The last two weekends we have covered over three hundred miles looking over four days and never set up. This year the hedges and tree buds all came out at once and the pigeon food table was vast. I'm off for my annual drive to Greece for three months so will have to settle for sea fishing the Med. To all you PW shooters I hope it improves soon. I thought you had already gone with you not posting any pics!
pigeon controller
I thought you had already gone with you not posting any pics! Hi Ben, no I will be looking for birds through France, Switzerland and Italy. I will be leaving some seeded spring rape which should be coming through in the next few weeks for your sport. motty
Well, things are looking up slightly. One of the fields that i thought may come good had a nice little flightline going into it, this afternoon. This particular rape field has not grown properly at one end. I sat watching for about 15 minutes, earlier, and there must have been about 40 birds going in, in ones and twos. They joined the 300+ already on the field. I will report back tomorrow if i do any good.

caeser
Cranfield got it right, it seems that they are feeding at first light, then they're sat in the woods all day and feeding again very late, from 4.00pm till dark. Can't say I've ever noticed it like that in the past. When I'm sat in a hide for a few hours twiddling thumbs, I start hearing the the pub calling me, and consequently I'm missing the late evening shooting. I think I'll be giving them a break for a few weeks. Unless I get a desperate phone call, but somehow I doubt it.

motty
A bit of a disaster for me this afternoon. It looked good when i set up at 1pm. Most of the pigeons avoided my spot for some reason. I stuck it out for 3 hours or so. I killed just 20.
retromlc
I have lost count how many times I've been out this year, grand total????1 crow.we have a mixed field of peas and beans, only one in the area, you'd think it was a mecca for them,1 flew in and i missed grr,3 hours and nothing!!just doing clays now and my tally is just with my air rifle!!!
