lap9387
So, The field I was shooting on Saturday is where ill be returning this weekend. .. I had a problem with birds settling in the field over the road to where I was... After talking to the farmer he tells me its actually one of his (god knows why he never mentioned it before) My plan is to put a bird scarer in the field, but im not sure of the best way to do it. Ive seen tinsel on a floater rod, giant flags... What will work best that I can make in 3 days? Ta
TJ91
Carrier bags on sticks. Simple and effective for a day or 2.
Scottoj18
+ 1 and put a few empty's in there to help the bag move around a tad more Edited June 3, 2013 by Scottoj18

lap9387
Cheers lads... Split them open or leave them as a bag?
Scottoj18
Bag, to catch the wind, two empty carts to weigh it down. then the wind blows picks the bag up again .. I find this to work
TIGHTCHOKE
Cheers lads... Split them open or leave them as a bag? All depends how windy it is, I usually tie one handle to the top of the stick as it's the movement you want!"
The Essex Hunter
White bin liners work well as they are quite long and make lots of noise in a good wind. Stick a couple on each bean cane.... TEH

Cranfield
With some crops at certain times of the year you can't walk over the fields putting out flags, I use string bangers. They are also useful for those fields where there are a few birds (usually in the sight of the Farmer), but hardly worth setting up for. Try asking the Farmer if he has any string bangers, if he hasn't it might make him think about getting some. I probably use more than 10 boxes a year, all supplied by Farmers. NickB65
I also use rope bangers and have a box with me most trips. Not east to get hold of but if you can get the farmer to get some they are worth the effort.
