subsonicnat
Never thought of on here: Some time back about 2 years I think, I saw a Crop which I had never seen before: I am going to be quite Vague , So please Bear with me: it stood about 4ft Tall, and looked like an Umbrella, The Thought that crossed my mind was it would make cracking pheasant cover, it would be Very Dry under it, and the could get out the cold winds, it was sown quite close together really for its size, thick stalks as well. Could anyone enlighten me what this crop could be: love to know, would tell my gamekeeper lad to try some, used to do a lot of peasant rearing some years back and would have used this no problem: Thanks in Advance: PS: Have only ever seen this crop Twice: Edited June 27, 2013 by subsonicnat

Uncle Albert
Could it be hemp? We had a farm near the golf course growing that stuff a few years back. The field it was in was right next to the road and there were so many cars parked up the cops stationed a motor next to the field. The problem is it ain't got the active component in it to any way near the same degree as the real stuff. The two coppers used to sit in the motor laughing like drains whilst the muppets went about pulling up the crop and filling their cars with it till the cops kicked them for theft. The farmer was growing it for some research company or something. Apparently it was about as mind blowing as sniffing a bonfire. The farmer was so p####d off with the wide boys knicking it that he plowed the whole field in in the end.

No its not a Triffid: Seriously, it is out there, somebody obviously was trying this crop out, only seen it twice, once going up the A1, and once going shooting to Welney: it was fully grown by the look of it in the Autumn This is driving me nuts, will start asking a few farmers. Going to keep trying though:

You sure you ain't been eatin those funny mushrooms? What was it driving when it was going up the A1. How did it do when it was shooting and how did you know it was going shooting? I hope it had its gun in a slip? Always makes me think of that warning road sign, "Beware, heavy plant crossing." Always makes me think of an oak tree holding up its outer roots with the lower branches whilst it tiptoes across the road. OK, I'll get me coat. I can't help it, it's my mind that's all. When you get old and wrinkly you are entitled to get a little cranky and insane! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Dave

four-wheel-drive
They tend to use sweet corn in my part of the world gives cover for the birds then when the corn heads are ripe they cut strips of them down and just leave them on the ground for the birds to eat.
