fabarm gamma boy Posted July 6, 2013 Report Share Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) so my winchester timber was looking abit tired so i was gunna have it done by a guy off here but funds are low this month due to car trouble! so thought id have a go! heres the before and after pics! although im not completely finnished as its only had 4coats of oil im gunna give it another few coats over the week! what do you guys think? Was it varnished or oiled yeah it was like a brown varnish laquer stuff that winchester had put on! The stock did go alot lighter but i think it looks better in this case! just go gor it nate the prep is the most important part, put as much effort into that as poss abd the finnish will be better! demonwolf444 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Share Posted August 3, 2013 To clear the chequering i have covered it in paint and varnish stripper and worked it in carefully with a tooth brush, then left it for some decent time and washed it out with white spirit and a tooth brush, clears it very well in my experience.
