steveyg
Spent the day with Tightchokes and Bigman (he is big.. ) looking for something to shoot at.. Set up for 9am,nothing for an hour or so... we decided to try another perm...nothing about so wasn't worth setting up ..no flightlines or decent numbers feeding 200+ miles in search of pigeons, must be blooxy barmy. We all agreed though... it is better to try and fail than not try at all.. Hey... ho that's pigeon shooting TC and Big man..our luck will have to change sooner or later.. Really appreciate the invite...Cheers Tightchoke
TIGHTCHOKE
Sorry to have nothing for you to shoot at, the recce was done and the birds where dribbling by on the flightline when we arrived at the farm! Just to add to the misery, I got home, opened a letter from First Utility the energy supplier. It stated that a direct debit for £105 had been refused by my bank! Upon checking through 300 unsorted emails I found what I was looking for. I transferred from First Utility in June and joined EDF on a fixed contract! Called EDF to check all was good at their end, confirmation of direct debits having been paid. I ask for a note to be put on my account in case I have to call again, very quick and easy! Called First Utility to ask for an explanation. The lady I spoke to was very appologetic, confirmed that I had left them in June and said she would put me through to the department that will refund my credit balance of £108:60. Marvellous, I think I lost a few heartbeats throughout the whole sorry episode!!!!!!!!

Longy0710
Sat watching a combine on Rape sunday, must have been 3000 or so pigeons piling into the stubbles and crop whilst farmer still cutting. As I am preparing to ask said farmer for an afternoon a guy turns up in the field with just a gun (no hide, deeks etc) and starts shooting. Sat watching him in despair for 45mins as he missed most of what came in. Went home and drowned my sorrows in a bottle of red. I have never seen so many pigeons in our area! team tractor
I went out yesterday to the barley stubbles that's been drilled with grass already . We shot 1 on the deeks in 20 mins but went quiet so we walked into the corner where we had seen a flight line . 1hr and 9 birds result . I also sat under the said flight line the day before for an hour and shot 7 200 greylag flew over my head and straight into the pond happy days in a month

steveyg
Steve that sounds a bit frustrating. Very Frustrating...but not on our own with the lack of pigeons. Some big bags starting to come through so fingers crossed the next few weeks improve for the majority on here.

markyboy
This year Sw Scotland had been the best year I've known for pigeon they are everywhere 5 permissions last wk all with birds on and some happy shooters out, shot near 200 birds in 3 days last week and if it wasn't for guys poor shooting there could have been alot more, even game dealer says the amount of pigeon he's getting is unbelievable

markyboy
I wouldn't say that we don't get numbers like down south but there's certainly been a bit more sport this summer but with more and more fields becoming cut the numbers will thin out and pigeon will be getting shot daily and they soon wise up making days more difficult ! I'm a big fan of getting to the winter planted fields as they always bring some good days ! I'm waiting on a 60 acre rape field being cut the pigeons are hanging about that just now so I expect a good day from it !
