12boreblue
Reminds me of a letter published in one of the daily papers many years ago. The author, born and bred in the city, moved to the countryside to enjoy his retirement. After some time and listening to the locals in the pub bragging about clay pigeon shooting, and how many 'birds' were 'killed'. He put pen to paper and informed the readers that if nothing was done to protect the 'clay pigeon', it would in the near future become extinct! What surprises me more is how our species has avoided it for so long!

steve_b_wales
Years ago, my brother in law was in work, and was telling a few of his colleagues about when he shoots clay pigeons. A female colleague came up to him and asked what they tasted like? Keeping a straight face, he said he would bring one in the next day so she could try one. He slightly overcooked a beefburger that evening and took it into work the next day. He cut the burger up and gave her a piece. She tried it and said it 'tasted a bit like beef'! moorvale55
I love that little snippet! My son and I have often been discussing shooting whilst in the pub, on several occasions tourists have overheard us and asked what we shoot and we normally reply, "wild Staffordshire Haggis", it's amazing how many people believe us.
