Crime phone: Seriously?

I heard this morning on R4 that the Chief Constable for Cleveland, says that the law and the public are too hard on anti social behaviour, stating that in most cases it's just youthful boisterousness.

Most likely the way things are going-you could drive to the station and leave a message that you are being burgled/raped/mugged and they could get back to you with a crime number as soon as they return from catching heinous criminals who are blatantly doing 34 in a 30 mph area.

Now what he is actually saying is I haven't the money and resource to deal with it BUT in a highly political way. As in don't upset the hand that feeds and loose further promotions. Perhaps a good argument for Police and crime commissioners?

I would love to hear him say that to a poor 80yr old lady who has had her garden trashed or windows egged.

You know that the vast majority of police couldn't give a toss about people doing 34 in a 30.

I don't, every single person I work with doesn't, and everyone I've ever worked with hasn't.

They must all be jobsworths in your area?

I do worry about some people. Who thought this was a good idea?

This phone is INSIDE the police station. To get to it, you have to be buzzed in by a Police officer on duty.

Well they don''t want it to get stolen do they...............especially with manpower levels, budget cuts and response times what they are
