Markbrowning
Hi Mark The 1301 is still new but it has some things I like & some things I don't. First off let me say its no M2, but its a hell of a lot cheaper & a hell of a lot of gun for the money. As we all know Beretta & Benelli are all from the same stable as it were & so share some common features, that are clear to see from the bolt head & other parts on the gun. The M2 has better quality finishing but thats not to say the 1301 is in any way poor, its just that you can see where the money has been saved in manufacture when you look closely at them both side by side. I like the 1301 for the fact its almost competition ready right out of the box, with oversize controls & a magazine extension, you don't need to be spending money & trying to source parts before you can compete, so as a gun for someone who just wants to buy & compete its great. As is well documented the M2 has a great record for reliability within the PSG community & it is used by all of the top competitors currently this reliability comes largely from its inertia system that means the gun is much cleaner than regular gas operated semi-autos, my only fear for the 1301 is its gas system, its gas rings bear a similarity in design to the Remington 1100/1187 of old & these used to lead up heavily when using slugs. I also don't like the squeaky bolt return spring that is housed around the magazine tube making the noise louder & it makes the action sound horrible, but that is being a bit picky as it seems to work ok. The real test will come over time, as yet the 1301 has a long way to go to prove its up to the job but really at the price point its hard to beat. My recommendation other than a pump gun for PSG would be if you can afford the M2 & the parts needed to get it up to speed then I would do that, if your budget conscious then the 1301 is what you should buy. 1301 bolt head shows some commonality with the Benelli but its actually welded to the action bars which is something I don't like. Close up of the gas piston, the gas rings are slim like the 100/1187 I like the larger extractor cut in the fact the barrel extension is longer giving a good solid connection with the receiver. The larger & beveled loading port is also a nice touch for a competition gun. The trigger group is made cheaper though & I can see problems in here as things start to wear. Hope that helps. N Neil a big thank you for going to the time & effort to write that up. A good read and I'm sure beneficial for someone weighing up between the two. That has made me happy owning my M2, no need to consider jumping ship

Mike737
My semi is also a Mossberg 9200, 24" barrel. How many are owned on here I wonder? Just had to have a new firing pin made for mine, it snapped in two, couldn't find a replacement available, but local gunsmith made me one. Spot on, top man! I have had a recent minor problem with it, in that the cartridge case has stuck a couple of times, and the extractor claw has ripped through the 'brass' rim, tearing a slice out of it. Don't know if it's the gun or the carts...Hull superfast70mm, 27grams 7.5 for clays, and Hull Special Pigeon 32 grams 6 for pigeon. Mike. simonix
Mine wasn't extracting the spent cartridge from the chamber. It wasn't ripping through the brass though?! The ejector claw did look to be "homemade" in comparison to 2 other 9200 bolts that both Wabbitboshee and I looked at. We changed them over, and it seems to have cured it (touch wood)! Maybe the claw is a common problem with them?! Edited January 5, 2014 by simonix

mike-b
I've had my Remy 1100 for about 10 years now. Skeet choked 26" barrels which I've used for Olympic skeet, wild fowling . Pigeon devoting and rough shooting. Very versatile gun . It's the second one I've had, a lot smoother than the first one which tended to make a clunk sound as it recycled. Only downsides are can't shot steel and can't cycle 24g apart from that really nice gun. How many skeet world records are held by 1100's ? Great pedigree of competition success. im another remi owner !!! the 1100 is my chosen weapon i own a matching pair one dated jan 1964 the other march 1974 both with 25 inch barrels with lyman cutts cmpensator and i have a full set of chokes to which took me ages to find and get shipped from the states! now out of all the semi's ive ever tryed nothing swings and feels like a remi and as dyosk said look how many records they have won! i love them!!! il start off with the chokes for said remi's the compensator close up and the guns sorry about quality snapped them quickly with the phone and out in the field! neillfrbs
Beretta A400 Xtreme Unico 28" 3.5" Chamber - i treated myself to a brand new one lol. a few of it assembled A picture of the stock with the Kick-Off system - had to put the biggest spacer on it at the minute, once i did that the gun fit me perfect! i have fired a 25 box of 50grams through it and i didnt feel it, so the Kick-Off system definitely works. It also came with other spacers of different sizes which may come in handy if i have to layer up in the cold... One of the Receiver - Once i got home after its first use, i fully stripped and cleaned the gun... i was quite suprised at the amount of dirt! A quick question... On the box it says to use 32gram + loads for the 'initial running-in period' How many Cartridges does it take to 'run it in'? i've fired 25 50gram cartridges through it but then took it to my local clay ground where i can only use 28gram, so put 125 28gram cartridges through it. Would it be wise to go somewhere else and carry on using bigger loads for a bit longer or will i be alright? i have a slab of 32gram if needs be snap got the same ,but 30" barrel used 4 boxes of 36 gram rc to run her in .seems fine ,but would not recycle 21 gram comp x carts last week, not to botherd though did not purchase it for shooting 21gram carts they were all they had at the clay ground. good gun thuough got the a300 outlander aswell.
