I only popped out to split some logs to light the stove and I noticed two fox's barking in the village!

I slowly lit the stove went n' got the old Parker Hale (for sale by the way) and a few shells, torch and snook out....listening!

Conscious of the wind I slowly moved in to a very horse sounding dog fox.

Despite the moon I kept the torch just off him and stood still. He was conscious of the other fox calling and did not want to leave this invisible boundry of theirs but he just had to come and check me out too!

So at a good forty or so yards and after checking where the horses were when side on I dumped the 1&1/4oz load of ones and when the thrashing settled gave him a dose of fours for good measure.

I uttered fetch to my sprocker of seven years and off she went to retrieve. I was not ready for the size of it! It is a huge fox just like the one I watched a few weeks ago a few miles away! The picture was rushed and does not do it justice.

This feller is past his prime with bad teeth and scavenging eggs from the egg unit!

I love getting close in amongst them!

I pursued the other but he moved off....I waited nearly an hour to see if he would return but he didn't, he will and maybe there now!!
