colin lad
222. I stand corrected. i think it's bullet weight ie 50grain and 1000 ft lb and i think (could be wrong) a .222 is the smallest gun with them figures my .222 is certainly conditioned for deer colin

Scottoj18
As basc website For Muntjac and Chinese Water deer only- a rifle with a minimum calibre of not less than .220 inches and muzzle energy of not less than 1000 foot pounds and a bullet weight of not less than 50 grains may be used. For all deer of any species - a minimum calibre of .240 and minimum muzzle energy of 1,700 foot pounds is the legal requirement. Colin spot on.. sixhills 69
I think that's the section to say your aloud to purchase expanding ammunition I calibre's authorised ( that's the key factor) you do not have authorisation to shoot deer with your calibre's It's a genetic paragraph which is on everyone's ticket Edited January 24, 2014 by sixhills

Footu
You can shoot it with a. 22 to end its suffering if it's been run over. Edit to say you cannot go and run them over with the intention of then shooting them. They run into cover too quickly. Luckyshot
You can shoot it with a. 22 to end its suffering if it's been run over. You can hit one over the head with a hammer for that matter to end its suffering, but Im sure the op means a healthy specimen and not an injured one. Kes
The error in the above posts of 'genetic' for 'generic' is quite a good one. Bit like a virus reproducing itself everywhere !
