TrimB
hello all, i'm thinking of buying a AA s410 however i have recently read so terrible reviews. things like leaking, bad triggers, accuracy falling off after 25 yards and all sorts of problems. What are your guys views on the rifle?
Paul taylor
Personally id ignore the bad reviews they are super accurate and I've not heard about many problems with em. I have the s510 and its fantastic!
Zetter
To be honest over the years the 4** series is the one you find get the least bad press. I have had 3 so far and cant really fault them, accuracy has been up there with the best, no leaks. The trigger is good lets be honest the trigger isn't as good as a Daystate/ HW100 but its no slouch either and the previous two are a fair bit more expensive than the 410. If you want a comparison of faults I have never had an issue with any of my S4** range but so far I have had HW100 going over power, BSA ultra going over power and now my Daystate Wolverine is in for inspection with what looks like a loose barrel. All guns have issues now and again but in my experience Air Arms tends to be the one who you hear about rarely and they shift loads of them. Iced Tiger
I have two S510's, one FAC and the other under 12ft/lbs, never had an issue with either of them. I converted the non FAC one to a superlite stock for the field, the FAC one I ordered with a Superlite stock. The walnut stock on the non FAC was too good to dinged on hunting trips. Don,t just go for one make though, get down to your local RFD and handle as many as you can, try a few out if you can. Most modern PCP'S are far more accurate than the average Joe Bloggs. Amazed
I had that very model and it was really good. Nice and usable. But they are just lacking and feel a bit boring. If they were regulated they would be mint and prob a bit better on air usage. For the money you will struggle to get a better rifle but that's all it will be. If you want special then save up and look at others higher in the tree. As for the 25 yards I can say it wasn't true of mine could hit the golf balls at the back of the range at euro guns lol carnt remember the distance about 45 yards I think. Bobba
I've had mine over 5 years problem free. Fitted with a MAP sight it is extremely accurate. I don't have a power problem probably because I had a Ben Taylor reg fitted post purchase. Drops rabbits at good distances. Wouldn't part with it. Theskyfox
I've just got the S410F TDR. Its the same action, and works pretty well. The AirArms range seem to be quite refined, and they certainly aren't afraid to revise/update and refresh models based on feedback. Can't comment on the accuracy just yet as all my shooting places are flooded at the moment, but the build quality is certainly very good. One thing I can comment on too is the chrono run. I had two certificates of power with it...over 20 shots there was a variation of just 7fps!!! thats in .177 and unregulated! Also worth mentioning its really easy to get parts/servicing and accessories for the Air Arms. I'm yet to see an RFD that doesn't deal with them and the internet is full of spares/bling should you need them. -Andrew Edited February 10, 2014 by Theskyfox

Rog Bucks
I almost bought an s410 before buying my first PCP last year. I held and fired an S410 and an HW100 in the local gun range. In terms of build quality there was no comparison. The barrel on the S410 looked very thin and the stock wood wasn't very nice - the barrel on the HW100 looked like you could lever manhole covers with it and the stock was a beautiful bit of walnut. Ended up going for the HW100, had to wait a while to get one at the right price on Guntrader though. Guess it depends on whether you want a light rifle - in which case I'd say the S410, for any other reason I'd say HW100 every time.
bruno22rf
I have heard of, and experienced, far more reliability woes with the HW100 than the S410 and there must be many more S410's out there than HW100's?
-Mongrel-
I've had a 400 and a 410, now have a 510. All have been super accurate and super reliable. I've never spent any money other than servicing on ANY of them, and even that only happens every two or three years. Dunno where you heard of either issue but I've yet to hear a substantiated bad word about them.

darkfire88
I used a mates hw100 there to front end heavy and even he said that the s400 was the better gun
Rog Bucks
Sounds like there are a lot of s410 fans about and probably rightly so! Wouldn't swap my little carbine thumbhole hw100 for one but I'll keep out of it as I don't own an S410... Personal preference I guess. Longbower
I have had several HW100's and had issues with every one. Leaking Air, low power. All went back to Hull Cartridge, and were fixed no problem. Never had any problem with any of the S410, but I hate the trigger mounted safety. robbiep
I have an S410 carbine in .22, (left handed bolt and stock), and also rate it very highly. About the only complaint that I hear of on a semi-regular basis is the indexing post for the magazines, but a replacement costs £10, and 10 mins to change. Mine will go from 200 bar down to 75 with less than 15 fps variation.
