camokid
hi all i looked at the forecast yesterday and it said another dry night was on the cards so charged the lamp and headed out to a farm that they have just put the young lambs on this week, i have paid a bit of attention to this farm as i new the stock was coming and he was concerned about the fox population but after having taken a few recently there was none in sight so thought i would press on to another farm to see if my luck was in there.. farm two was about 15 mile away but closer to home . i know there is a good size dog kicking around that will just not keep still as soon as the lamp hits him he turns into road runner and heads for the hills.. i walked around for a while with no luck then decided to take a walk to the back end of the farm . i reached the hill and took a look with the lamp over the old potato field that is a big mess of sloppy but mr fox was looking right at me across the field i raised the rifle to the stick but could only make out eyes.. i took another five minuets changing the angle so the shot was safe and a good id was made.. the fox was lying down but soon got up on his feet as he turned i took my shot and a good thud rang back ... this is where it went a bit down hill ..... i could not find him and i had completely lost my bearings as to where he was i thought he was against the hedge so spent over half an hour trying to find him i even put my rifle and pack pack down and walked the road up and down scanning the ditch but nothing... knowing i had hit him hard with a 243 70g i was angry that he had got away... i had to give up and admit a **** shot.... i walked back across the field towards the path and decided to scan the field one more time........ there he was 10 foot in front of me i could not believe it i was looking nowhere near him a good 50 yards in the wrong direction..lol lol how to screenshot on windows
