Big Dog
I am wanting to get into reloading and spent Christmas reading up on it which just exited me more. What kit do you recommend and why??????/ I was thinking Lee and get it in a toret press for more speed, and multi calibres?? Go for it, spill your gut out and educate me

poppythedog
Lots of people slag Lee kit off, it may not be a well finished cosmetically as some but it works which is the object of the exercise I think? Give reloading solutions a call and ask for Aftab, he knows more than most internet experts ever will about what you will need to get going. Browning
I've used the same 2 Lee presses (One for de-cap and size, one for seating) for 15 years and they're still doing the job. Also RCBS dies and scales.

AndyCM
I bought the Lee kit - (cheap in case I didn't like reloading :look: ). - Didn't get on with the powder thrower, but happy with the rest of the kit - until I broke the decapping die - I do not fault the Lee kit for that - down to tight factory primers & operator error I replaced the Lee die with an RCBS and happily reload with the rest of the Lee stuff. If it gets you up and running go with Lee & you will always need a few extras, whatever kit you get so plan your shopping rather than think you have everything only to find out half way through you are missing some bit of kit. bought a reloading manual yet / been shown the ropes ? Cheers AndyCM

bobt
big Dog somewhere at the back of my mind is the thought that in Northern Ireland reloading is a No no? rjimmer
I've used the same 2 Lee presses (One for de-cap and size, one for seating) for 15 years and they're still doing the job. Also RCBS dies and scales. Handy to have two presses for small batches! Get the Lee Classic Cast press for the first stage and the cheap Challenger press to finish off. http://www.peterlawman.co.uk/reloading.php RCBS scales etc.

Big Dog
Thanks guys for your feedback. Sorry for the delay in responding I have been away with work since last week. You can reload in N. Ireland. As is often the case choice of kit and retail knowhow is the problem. I hear that Lee have brought out a cast iron turet press??? Not sure what it is called though. I also have the Lee Modern Reloading manual which I read over Christmas. Any further tips welcome.
Dunkield
After listening to loads of advice on here and talking to other experianced reloaders, I went with the Lee press and Redding dies. It's very early days for me, but looks pretty good stuff so far

johnskevena
Sorry guys that my question is a bit off the topic of this thread but i was just wondering what are the laws regarding buying reloading equipment and primers and powders over in the uk.Do you need to obtain a permit from the police there to purchase equipment or can anyone who holds a valid licence for a centrefire rifle purchase what they need? Just curious as reloading is meant to be legalised over here in the coming months but there will be a lot of conditions a person will have to satisfy before being granted a licence to reload and to be legally entitled to have in there possession the stuff you need and was just wondering what is the deal in the Uk with it
