theshootist
Does anyone else use this ammunition? With the cost of most ammunition I have always reloaded for my CF rifles, but recently I have been trying the 50gn and 55gn soft point Prvi Partizan in my .22-250. The results have been good with the PP shooting pretty similar groups to my reloads at 100m and at under £13 a box! Makes me wonder whether to bother reloading! I'm also going to try the 150 SP in .308.
digit
I only use Prvi 55g soft point ammo in my 22-250 with no problem's at all. I get 3/4" grouping at 100m
reggiegun
Yes, been using 55gr SP in my sons 22-250 and getting excellent results at 100 yards, good enough for fox. Found them hard to beat with reloads actually. Reggiegun
NeverReady
Haven't used any of their rifle stuff but have run through plenty of their 44mag and it's all been good and the brass reloads fine They get a thumbs up from me.
SSS
Only use PPU ammunition through my triple. My rifle groups 3/4moa with them and I can buy them at £9.50 a box. Absolutely no point in worrying about better accuracy. I know 1/2moa is easily achievable with 50 grain Hornady vmax, but they're over twice the price and for that, what's 1/4 of an inch? Home loads will inherently be more accurate still, but that means buying everything to set up in reloading, and that will definitely cost more than 47p per shot! sonicdmb
I use some PPU tried 50gn SP in 222 through my new (to me) CZ 527 and it grouped well one ragged hole at 100 yds. When I used 58 vmax in my 243 for foxing I had some 100 gn PPU in the safe for Deer. I broke down the cost of my 243 rounds based on getting 10 reloads per case it was 62p each not including time to make it. PPU at £12.50 (what I paid for the last box) is 62.5p so it is cheaper, but I'm loading 87 vmax and PPU is only available in 90's or 100's. The 222 is £9.25 a box it may be cheaper to load on the basis of materials but might not be worth it.
theshootist
Interesting to see so many have reached the same conclusion as me. If the .308 turn out to be as good then I can see myself using them too. If only they did .45-70!!
Therealchucknorris
Got a box of the 90gr to put through my .243 Howa tomorrow. Will report back on how I get on...
soulboy1957
If they go well in the gun why not,I have two .222s, my cz527 hates them but my tikka M595 shoots under an inch at 100 yards with 50g ppu. aister
I use PPU 180gr soft points in my 30-06 and it groups 3 shots under an inch at 100 and so far they have worked well on the deer I have shot, they get a thumbs up from me . pstenson123
I've only used ppu's in my 223 remmy & get 1/2" groups at 100 yds so why bother wasting money on more expensive ammo? It does the job I want it to on mr fox .
Dekers
I have been using the stuff as long as I can remember. Fortunately my .223, .243 and .308 can all deliver it to 1", so, for field use that works fine for me!
Scully
Have never used it but mate has and reckons its ok. One of the local RFDs reckons its so bad he refuses to stock it.
Thunderbird
Is there by any chance a make or model of 223 that is known to 'like' PP ammo?
Scully
Mate puts them through his Tikka T3 Tactical.
Thunderbird
Thanks - I realise there will be potentially lots of single examples however I was wondering if there was such a thing as a general consensus that a certain type tends to do prefer it. Might be worth a new thread. I'll see when I get closer to buying one in the spring.
SSS
They're definitely worth trying. Buy a box and see how you get on. 1 inch groups are acceptable if you're foxing.
