Sprackles
Well considering that this winter was supposed to have been one long mini ace age and we got nothing but wind then perhaps the sceptic is going to be there in people... neillfrbs
I remember a few years back ,the barbeque summer ,did nothing but **** down all summer .the weather is going to do what it is going to do .don't listen to the forecasters anymore especially the long term weather . aris
I remember a few years back ,the barbeque summer ,did nothing but **** down all summer .the weather is going to do what it is going to do .don't listen to the forecasters anymore especially the long term weather . I agree - but the prediction (albeit a 75% CYA prediction) in the article I linked to is not from the Met Office - so it is bound to be right eh? aris
The worst would be if we did have a scorcher - with no rain for 3 months, and the bring in a hosepipe ban
Kes
My view is that the jet stream has yet to stabilse an weather will be 'wobbly' as a result. Hoping for the best but expecting 'average'.
chady
Well the thermals are off!!! Thursday last week so it's summer
-Mongrel-
Haven't a clue as to what it will be...I should be a meteorologist! :-) I'm an optimist though so went for the 'scorcher' option!
Cottonseed
I've just spent the past 15 minutes writing about my observation of weather cycles in the NW. Suddenly, the site disappears--no post. Anyway, to get to the point: Hot summer this year, wet summers for at least the next three years. All based on how warm it was here in March 1990, 1995, 2003--the hottest in my lifetime--and 2006..
88b
It seems the pessimists outweigh the optimists. I think you mean the realists, what other job could you screw up 90% of the time and still keep your job ? Unless your a weather liar. Blunderbuss
Short to medium range forecast the meteorologists are OK at. Further than a fortnight out you'd be better off asking a Gypsy fortune teller on Blackpool pier.

Gunman
An American commented to me that we British constantly talk about the weather . I pointed out to him that in the US they have climate ,we have weather. My prediction is that for 2014 we will defiantly get some !
amateur
Presumably everyone is voting on the expectations of their local sunshine/rainfall. I guess that the Essex vote will be rather different from Western Isles vote
