oxfordfowler
Have visited two Rookeries this last week. Branchers are out and about on both. Infact they are well on - had I left the visits till next weekend then I think they would all have been off and away.

jam1e
Would I be right in thinking "branchers" are the young birds that can't fly yet, hence staying on a branch of the tree? Jamie

berettadevon
Had a look this afternoon on my permission and theres loads about so be heading back over there tomorrow Had an amzaing result yesterday!!! thought id only take 100 cartridges with me which was the first BIG mistake, thankfully the farmer was happy to let me have a load of his!! There was quite a few moments where i just couldnt keep the cartridges in the gun long enough, ive never seen anything like it (has anyone else?) ended the day with 171 which has left me with a hugh grin as it is the largest bag ive ever shot!!! It was a mental 5 hours but it is 5 hours i will possibly never forget either. good luck to any others heading out it is certainly time to give them corvids there lead medicine!!! Note to self: buy more cartridges LOTS more!!!!!!!!!!

berettadevon
sadly thats the other piece of equipment i left at home on the dinner table, i wont next outing though as camera has now found a new home in me gun slip!!!!! i think it was the only time im going to get a chance at them tho as i have diy jobs that need attending too!!! (thanks to the mrs lol) grrrrrrrrrrrrr!! what has surprised me is how stupid the younger birds are, possibly the easiest shoot, hense the large bag. Was they all branchers or young birds flying about , probably a third of my bag was young birds and easy to decoy
