WinchesterDave
Well a few months back I asked if anyone had any comments on the TA now known as army reserve as I was considering joining... Well I did and today I passed my selection with an over all grade A for the two days, couldn't be happier! I also got my best run time yet on the 1.5 mile run for fitness assessment so was made up Thought I would let you all know, Atb Dave

Well done on passing hope you enjoy your time with the reserves. Puttees were a bit before my time, we did them in lightweights and BCH. The odd thing is I used to get better times in boots than I did in trainers when they switched over. Then it really went to pot when they did away with the 1.5 mile warmup, because that gave your thighs time to recover from the situps. I hated BFTs anyway, give me a CFT any day of the week. Knees and back here. Thank you Defence Procurements for the wonder that was the Boot Cardboard Horrible. I found my old red PT vest the other day in the loft. Wonderful things, manufactured out of a material so absorbent that the sheer weight of sweat in the thing would make it sway from side to side and throw you off balance as you ran... WinchesterDave
Thanks guys yeah it still is 10:30 for some corps, but it depends on what you join. For example, para is 9:40 I believe, infantry is 12:45 and everything else is 13:15. However everyone does aim for sub 10:

NickS
Weekend Soldier (Billy Connolly) I am a weekend soldier And the world is scared of me I've fought a million battles And I'm always home in time for tea Seriously, with the cut-backs, reserve forces are an essential part of our military capability and hats off to you for being willing to make that commitment.
