matty*
Ok so i put a topic up a week or so ago about xtrema vs maxus. Ive decided to keep the xtrema but would like to do the barrel up, by that i mean paint it. Its in good order but just looks a bit worn and tatty. What have others used to paint/cover there barrels. Dont wana send it away. Am looking to do the work myself. Anyideas please post Thanks Matty
Scully
What to do with barrel? Personally I would leave it alone; nothing wrong with good honest wear and tear. If you have to do it up I would have it re-blued/blacked or whatever, but think paint wouldn't look right in my opinion.
wraivi
I used dura coat 2 pack from Lauer weaponry USA that I got fo caswell eu online. I sprayed a badly outside pitted cz barrel in HK Black. Looks brand new and extremely tough and durable. Well worth considering.
welshwarrior
If you want it painted (personally blacked looks better) I would use Crercoat (can't spell this morning) on metal work it's better than Duracoat Duracoat is best on plastics. matty*
When u get a barrel "blacked" does it shine like a blued barrel or is it dull like a xtremas originsl finish?? Thanks for the replys Matty
team tractor
Just ordered a bluing kit for £15 this morning off the evil bay. Bought a Brno that's worn through so worth the risk I watch a you tube video on it which seemed simple enough ( watching the video lol)
Big Mat
Personally i'd sent it away to get cercoated. You can get a mix of ceracoat which looks very much like blueing!
Gunman
Did some air guns a long time back with car paint from Halfords , Duplicolour[?] Not expensive , did the job and if the worst happens it goes wrong, a tin of thinners will take it off with no damage . Don't like to see it on gun barrels as a rule but on singles and autos its cheap way out .But I would suggest a mat rather than high gloss as this can look very artificial . hawkfanz
maybe you can have it done like the outlander,,matt black.no shine to it.
ColinF
RichardH on here does Cerakote, he has just done a sound moderator for me in black. The finish is very similar to the original factory finish on my xtrema 2 barrel, which is painted or coated with something, rather than traditional blueing. mark1206
stick a bit of camo tape on it..do most of my semi auto guns ..stops any shine on bright days poking over the top of the hide.. also stops any damage or scratches to the barrel..when you want to remove it just pull it off and a quick wipe of the barrel with a rag soaked in thinners....and your barrel is like brand new..
