darren m
right - i took my daughters 55 plate ford fiesta to the garage for a front wheel bearing the other day. when i went to collect it the quoted price had doubled from £100 to £200 , apparantly they had broken the ABS ring , literally smashed it off to get access to the bearing ( i,m told anyway ). so not very happy , i deceided to look on the net for this ABS ring , and i cant find it , only thing i can see is a ABS sensor wire thingy . so does this ring actually exist or am i being ripped off
Tam
Most front wheel drives have the ABS ring on the drive shaft CV joint nowadays
Cannon
Why is the garage charging you for their mistake? ABS rings are easy to break if you're not careful.

Budice
ABS rings can be sweated on and off CV joints. Also front wheel bearing can be picked up for as little as £20 plus VAT

We've got them AMK, Shaftec or Transhock before now and like you say, very inexpensive
Ryanb
I work in a Ford main dealer and the front ABS ring is built into the wheel bearing.
darren m
I work in a Ford main dealer and the front ABS ring is built into the wheel bearing. would that be the case for a 55 plate fiesta.
hodge911
sounds a bit strange matey when I had my garage if we had broke the abs ring and it was our fault we would have replaced it at our cost . price seems a little high have a look here http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Fiesta_1.2_2005/p/car-parts/car-transmission/transmission-parts/wheel-bearing-and-wheel-hub/?628590491&1&fc256ceb420730f564ab7911c4a2f12c9ea203ce&000602
Ryanb
Well I would have thought so. I checked on a 04 plate fiesta last night while at work and that was built into the wheel bearing. Most Fords are designed that way to be honest
neil82
most likely thing that happened is they put a bearing in the wrong way round the first time and had to do the job twice, ask for a fully itemised bill and look carefully at the labour cost, if needed I can check autodata tomorrow for the book time
Ryanb
Yeah Neil is probably right. Have seen them fitted wrong before. Book time is 1.4 hours
fireboy
05 fiesta abs sensor is built in to the bearing same as the ford focus 45min job max
armsid
as ryanb said the bearing is the abs and fitting wrong way round is easy if you dont know what your doing you normally have a small clear bag of iron filings in kit to help decide which way round you fit the bearing idiot proof! check bill breakdown to see what labour charges have been made .be interesting to know

Lord Geordie
You MAY find that they have broken the FIRST ABS ring by not fitting the new bearing correctly! A lot of garages use brute force with make shift tools to fit bearings! My friends Pug 1007 HDI had the same bearings. The garage used a vice and crushed the ABS ring. You have to use a quality bearing tool on them. They need to be pulled in. Best thing would prob be to freeze the hub before fitting to contract the metal and aid fitting.
