fenboy
The last couple of seasons have been very poor for decent size codling , so it is very good to see good numbers turning up this year. I had a session with my father last night and I managed half a dozen all in size the biggest about 2.5 lb , I kept three and returned three. My father was not so lucky and only had one on his very first cast , I think the fish were well out and he was not quite reaching them. A nice evening on the beach and I did not even need to put the shelter up . Edited October 18, 2014 by fenboy

aga man
Plenty of codling here on the east coast apparently, i spoke to an angler in the week who had fish to 4lb last weekend and he said the boat fishermen off bridlington are finding there crab pots full of small codling every day. Nice to hear.
toontastic
nice fish mate.im getting an itch to get back into it,just have to justify it to the Mrs,lol.............Plenty fish along our part of the coast, cod off the beaches and some whiting off blyth pier. If you need bait there's a couple of New bait shops one in blyth and one in Whitley Bay.

TaxiDriver
Does that size of codling make for decent enough sized fillets ?
islandgun
unusually plenty of small codling here, looking good for next year, I wonder if a reduction in commercial quotas is having an effect !
