guy baxendale
Any views on the SP10 - is it any good? Prone to Jamming etc Does the 30" barrel offer any advantage over the 26" version ? What are the other options for a semi auto 10 gauge? and are they any good …...Browning Gold etc Thanks Guy Edited November 4, 2014 by guy baxendale
Terry P
I have a browning gold as does my friend, no problems with either. He used to have a sp10 no issues with that. Both good guns. Edited November 4, 2014 by Terry P
fenboy
I think SP10s are like rocking horse **** to find second hand .
shakin stevens
As fenboy says they are hard to find these days, I've got the browning gold light never have any problems with it, it's in durable touch camouflage so it cleans down well, these have the aluminium receiver making it lighter, it's the only one which is steel shot proofed, but the others will eat any steel rounds you put in them so it don't really make much difference. motty
I was using my Browning Gold 10 when you were out with me and Jules, Guy. I love it. Only ever had one cartridge fail to eject (see one of my youtube videos for that). I got mine at a bargain price of £350.

muncher
Guy , I have had several different Ten bores and I would say only get one if you have an urge to own one because 50 grams of heavy shot in a 12 will shoot as far as a ten will and you don't have to mess about with cases etc ,but if your heart is set on one then go and enjoy yourself. Smiler23
Is that right? 12 bore with hevi shot will pack as much punch as a 10 bore? Genuine question,I'm new to all this.

I already have one Jules - an AYA Matador. Used to be Full and Full and i had it bored out to 5/8 which is apparently still too much choke for Hevi which was a disapointment to learn. If i did get an auto it would be a trade so it didn't cost me much
muncher
complicated to answer the ten will pattern better generally what I was trying to say was the price of buying a ten then the ammo to feed it you can buy a lot of heavy shot ,power shot etc and still have just about the same range ,where the ten comes into its own in my opinion is with steel shot.as you can deliver bigger loads and better patterns. I had my own 10 done to 1/2 choke and will quite happily use all shot through it ( just need some hevi now! )

widgeon man
Took my bps 10 to Scotland with me, inland. Terror 720 and winchester superxx 3's lead........... Amazing! I normally shoot rubbish with it ( lack of use!) but shot it better than the 12, and where the 12 started to fail, the 10 was consistently doing the job with a great pattern. Haven't shot any geese with it and steel yet, only duck!

In the near future I feel it will be widely acknowledged that the heavy metals used in production of so called high cost "non toxic" lead shot substitutes are any thing but. On this "bigger loads and better patterns" basis single or fewer higher retained energy strikes have to prove less effective on percentage DRT kills than multiple higher count strikes with a good pattern - provided the energy is still sufficient. We can you see no matter how well we shoot control were each individual pellet lands within the spread.
