JohnfromUK
'English Best' being side by side, self opening sidelock, very fine pitch "English Rose & Scroll", colour hardening, automatic safety, 28" barrels, best blacked, IC and 1/4 chokes, top grade wood. Weight about 6 3/4 lbs (12 bore). Age immaterial, but probably pre WW1 or between wars were the very best quality examples.

figgy
Horses for courses. On a top game gun only nice walnut hand finished and best blued or Damascus barrels. On a clay gun still like nice wood and blued/blacked barrels but whatever balances best for you. On a semi auto tool for vermin or for the marsh as a fowling gun, only synthetic stock and special barrel coatings will do. Figgy
