LeadWasp
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-30189533 I see no skirts (and no I don't mean a cross dressing cat) so lead shot rather than air pellets? Looks more likely that it has been shot once by a shotgun. Whilst it is still a very cruel act and one to be condemned it is not the result of a frenzied shooting. As it is another BBC incorrectness about shooting (the vets don't say it is an air rifle) should there be a response from the shooting community? Mentalmac
Has to be lead shot... No way someone would have been able to shoot a cat 40 times with an airgun and it still live, surely. Poor cat, I know some people don't like cats, but no living animal should be made to suffer like that.

69chris
that did cross my mind - very irresponsible. agreed, not trying to excuse anyone, i meant it may have been an innocent accident as opposed to a malicious act .............either way its not what anyone needs, more ammo for em

birdsallpl
Looking at the X-ray the broken femurs are not the result of the shooting. So he has been through the wars poor thing or did some misguided idiot think he was putting then cat out of its misery after being discovered with broken legs. LeadWasp
Well the article now reads that it was shot twice - so either a doubly irresponsible lamper or a someone so incompetent who can't even administer a coup de grace TWICE! Either way thankfully the poor thing has defied the odds with some kind help. Hope it finds a good home.

bostonmick
that's a shocking way to leave any animal.well with the exception of rats maybe.i have no great love for cats but I do not believe they should be hurt like this.i have some around the yard I feed them and they kill rats so they are happy and I am happy. Yellow Bear
Whilst I have no issue with cats in general we are ALL assuming that this was a deliberate act. The shot did not penetrate far, so at extreme of range. The cat is black Is it not possible or even very likely that this animal was at the periphery of a shot at a rabbit and was not seen - black cat in, or in shadow of, cover. If this was the case the shooter would not have known of the occurrence. However, if it was deliberate it was a pretty carp shot !!
GingerCat
Interesting idea yb but it was shot on both sides so hardly accidental. Well about as accidental as me just happening across a large choc bar in the fridge and a bottle of red in thé cupboard and scoffing then both. I would suggestion it sent one way, got shot and turned for home when it was shot again. Regardless of the cat haters out there, cruelty is cruelty and whoever did it doesn't deserve their sgc and does deserve a visit to the local Nick. 69chris
Sounds plausible, but what is your explaination for the broken legs? a terrorist a terrorist with a shotgun a stolen shotgun too.................... prob it was most likely an accident, it went like this.......... terrorist needs a gun, terrorist breaks into house, expertly removes chosen gun from cabinet without undue noise so as not to wake the lawful gun owner (considerate fella this terrorist eh, who said they were all bad!) on his way back out of the house he realises hes a bit munchy after his exploits so has a rummage thru the fridge, spots some salad but without a chunk of tender goat who wants salad - we're all only human right ? spurned on by his now raging hunger he goes on the hunt, armed with his new stolen shotgun, looking for said goat, he soon finds himself down on the local allotments (thats where he keeps his goat at home so i guess its a reasonable place to start looking) the hunt begins proper and upon hearing a rustling noise he turns, takes aim and fires!! maybe it was hunger, perhaps it was just the jetlag but his judgement was all over the shop and he was wildly beyond killing range (more used to 7.62 bullet range i expect) thus only wings the poor goat.....i mean cat, getting swirled up in the tale meself now !! the goa...cat, spins around with the sting of the shot just in time to feel the impact from the 2nd misjudged shot, with that the cat thinks "****** this'' and takes off across the veg.... only to run out in front of the milk float doing its rounds, the impact from the speeding 7mph leccy float was glancing, but enough to break poor kittys legs (which proves near silent electric vehicles are a menace and should be also banned!) terrorist realises his mistake, and scampers off to nick some bread and cheese off the mrs miggins doorstep that milky has just left behind cat is happily found shortly after and is rescued, there ya go, that explains everything................maybe Edited November 26, 2014 by 69chris
GingerCat
No idea about the broken legs, maybe whoever shot the cat kicked it or threw it after picking it up in a state of agony. Either way I'd like to know who did it as would they're feo I suspect.
Dougy
Sounds plausible, but what is your explaination for the broken legs? That will be the shotgun pellets then.
