Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
Ey up pigeonwatchers. Dead eyed duck invited me for evening flight this evening. We chatted as we made our way to the flight pond and i was deciding which choke to use in the A400. Anyway much to my surprise as i am fiddling with the choke, aged companion pulls out the side by side 10 bore, woo hoo!!!! the beretta is quickly designated as the back up gun and don soon has the muzzleloader primed and ready for action. It didnt take long before with a quack above us the first visitors arrived and 3 mallard swung towards the pond, Aged companion swings through and with a roar and huge flame in the dusk the first bird of the flight drops onto the pond. Quite frankly there was no chance of another shot as we have been completely enveloped in a blanket of sulphurous smoke, cough! cough! and the other 2 mallard make good there escape. My turn next. As another pair of mallard swing in, hammer back, swing through, roar!!!! cloud of smoke !!!!!!!!!! and my mallard falls too. Again no chance of another shot as the smoke enveloped us again HA HA HA this is awesome. Finally aged companion has recharged the 10 bore, just in time too as another brace swing in. No mistake from don as another fat mallard collapses to his shot. We called a halt with 3 birds to pick as we like to leave some birds undisturbed for next time and a teal and another pair of mallard splashed onto the pond whilst don's faithful pooch bella retrieved the slain. What a fabulous evening, many thanks mate i will remember that duck for a long time.

loriusgarrulus
Who needs fireworks when you have a muzzleloader. Good shot.
Dead-Eyed Duck
The gun is a standard Pedersoli 10g repro, but it gives lots of fun firing 11/2 of shot with very little recoil. I've used it lots of times decoying pigeons, and you just have to remember that it is unchoked to get good results. The next outing is with us both using 6g and 7g single barrel front stuffers, again for duck. The pup (19 months) looks rather tired, but she has had a busy day. Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
I have to agree with don, that 10 bore is a bit special. lots of fun and as long as you are sensible about the range it is used at its very practical
