As title.......

Get a call today from the Mrs to say their is a fox on the yard trying to get at the chickens, I have sprayed it with the hose but it just stands there looking at me lol

So obviously it's not scared of humans so can get quite close. I have fac but not for fox .22lr aolq have got shotgun but not shore what cart to get and what choke and at what distance should the shot be taken? Have done a search but just brings up loads of different carts to use but nothing about range. Also how can I draw the ****** in when I'm there?

Thanks

Either make a batch of hoof stink or hang some bait about if you want let him take a few over a few days then sit up anlet him come, you can try calling but you shouldnt need to if he keeps coming back shot wise doesnt matter at the distance youll proberly shoot him in fact when ive had a problem fox near pens i sit up with a 410 hush power no5 face on job done

This has been done to death : the Home Office guidance states that .22LR can be suitable for fox, in appropriate circumstances and at close range. It also says that it is up to the shooter to determine if it is close enough, and if the shooter is good enough, to kill cleanly.

If it's close enough to spray with a hose, then it's close enough for 22LR. If it's static for long enough, headshot. If not, then engine room. Coup de grace if required.

I've shot foxes with plenty of differing guns - 410 shotgun, 20 bore, 12 bore, 22LR, .223 - the one thing they all have in common is that if you put your shot/bullet in the right place, then a fox isn't getting up again.

Cat food placed somewhere appropriate so as not to damage property with the idea to make any shot safe regards back stop / ricochet, shotgun and 3's or larger shot size up to bb's, you don't need a fantastically heavy load or if suitable .22lr

Personally I'd go for the shotgun unless noise is going to be an issue

Ideally place the cat food or do a trail of juice to the cat food on the foxes route into where your chickens are kept
