pigeon controller
When I was back at the Disco on Friday packing the gear away a Range Rover stopped and the guy said " Do you shoot pigeons" I replied "Allegedly" and we continued our conversation as he had heard us shooting and he had 70 acres of rape which the pigeons had decided to have a go at , but our shooting had moved them on. I gave him a card and said give me a ring if they are still on the rape in the week. Sunday he rang me to say they were back, so I arranged to go out today after sorting out the horse and dog. I arrived at the farm at 10.45 and the Farmer suggested that we walk the whole of the rape during that time I counted about fifty pigeons in the trees. I said I would set up down wind so any birds down would be disturbed by my shots. He did not want me to drive the land so I had to carry all my gear to the far side of the farm. After the game dealer had been on Sunday morning I only had four fresh birds for decoys so two on cradles and two on the magnet and off we go It was just after mid day when the first pair came in and not out . They kept comming in groups of ten to fifteen and I would drop two and possibly three if I could reload quickly, all going out as decoys but by 14.00 it was all over I waited till 15.00 and packed up and had to make two trips back to the Disco. I picked up thirty eight pigeons which was a good bag as we nomally say if you see the birds in the trees you will end up with approx fifty percent . The farmer was very pleased and said he would ring when they return.

JDog
With so few birds as decoys I imagine that you were unable to use the 'Yickdaz' system.

aga man
Not sure about the ability to get a semi, but you certainly still have good fitness to carry gear and dead pigeons across wet land. Very commendable sir. nice bag.

pigeon controller
With so few birds as decoys I imagine that you were unable to use the 'Yickdaz' system. It was a lazy Yickdaz or Cosd system . The full system would have spooked them ????
pigeon controller
Well done that man. Another satisfied farmer, Have you ever thought of getting a semi so that you can turn those frequent doubles into trebles? Hi Motty, I have thought about a Mossberg Hushpower with two barrels ( silenced and normal) but as I do not shoot alone that often I have not committed. I might look at the Shooting Show and get a feel of the Hushpower. Our normal system is in the hide the second shooter will wait till the second barrel of the first shooter then follow on if possible.
