I wonder if anyone would be interested in a DSA that would fit the flowplast fitting and could be custom made to fit the scope. A little less droopy than the rubber tube, removable and pretty robust? I designed and printed one for my add-on but it seems a shame to waste the concept on having it for just that. It could be redesigned and printed with a flat platform to take your battery for instance, you'd only need a bit of strong velcro to hold it on then.

Currently printing one to fit that nightmare of a scope, the MTC Mamba, it works fine on pretty much everything I've put it on.

Havent seen this thread for a year and up it comes again, some good builds on here just wish I could get a complete shopping list for a nv that would allow to shoot out to max 100 yrds.

Am a plumber/builder/heat engineer so can do most things just not a clue about cameras etc.

Anyone put a upto date list up or better still do a commission build, lol.

My thoughts exactly. I was just about to get out a notepad and start a page 1

I like Davyo's build and eyepiece, but have also taken a fancy to Mick's box (ooer!) etc.

I'd love a list, but having spoken to one or two of the home brewers, I understand that they can be reluctant to just hand out the quick and easy methods and cheapest sources. They have after all, spent quite a few bob getting their builds to where they are now.

Oh dear, you're on the slippery slope to a scopeless rig :good:, especially if you are moving the scope forward as the add-on looses some of its main befenits, ie, the ability to swap quickly between rifles.

I haven't looked back since making a dedicated rig, much smaller, lighter, more comfotable and better picture. Go on, you know you want to.......

FalconFN, could you post any pictures of your dedicated non scope rig? I'm very intrigued by it, and wouldn't mind seeing your design if that's ok?

Cheers

Jamie

Design may be pushing it as was largely made up as I went, but here are some pictures:

And with IR illuminator:

I wanted a near-eye display as I really think screens light up your face like a beacon and I needed air rifle ranges, plus I go on foot and need my good eye (non shooting eye) to see where I'm going. The basic idea was using an ali project box, old camcorder CRT viewfinder, Sony cam with privacy settings, 12v li ion battery and voltage converter, and a whole lot of fiddly wiring and swearing. The lens is a bit hefty but as it's a 75 mm f1.2 it is perfect for my needs, and it is attached to a c-mount ali ring bolted to the body. It cost around £90 all in, although I could have got a few parts cheaper direct from China, it holds zero very well and is pretty amazing in low ambient light (a full moon is almost like daylight).

A top find was a 11 mm to weaver adapter that I used as both the mount and the lamp rail.

Here's a video from a few months ago.

Cheers Dave, it was only possible because of yours and others peoples hard work (and expense) in developing diy NV. :good:

I made a matching spotter too but I want to swap the current heavy lens (50 mm f1.4 fujinon TV lens) with a smaller cheapo 50 mm lens. The quality won't be nearly as good but it'll be smaller and lighter to carry in a pocket.

Cheers, although that night I realised my shooting sticks were broken so I hashed together two bits of bamboo with string, and they weren't very solid. I can 'see' trees etc at more than 300 yards with t20 type torch but realistically it's probably useable to 200 yards (I've just checked on google Earth and the fox in the last few seconds of video is at 180 yards). Although you'd get a comedy black eye using on anything with more than a little recoil as there's no real eye relief.

this looks very good mate

are these hard to make, do you make them to order, is there a parts list and if so how much for parts and how much for you to make?

Not so much hard as time consuming, and I don't want to make another one.

Parts are readily available on ebay/aliexpress but I don't have part numbers as such as certain bits, like the viewfinder, are from broken camcorders from the 1990's and it was done in stages as each part arrived I had to sort out a different problem before ordering the next.

Very approximately you need:

Camera - E700 is the best but I used a cheaper but comparable one (Sony Exview HAD II CCD 700TVL)

Battery - I used an EL wirecraft 12v 1800 mAh li-ion pack)

Viewfinder - CRT B+W from a camcorder (you can by a new OLED for better quality but the are £100)

Lens - C-mount TV/CCTV lens around 75 mm with a large aperture

Voltage converter - I used a tiny buck converter to change the 12v to 5v for the viewfinder

Mount and torch rail - 11 mm to weaver adapter used for both

And an ali box big enough to fit it all in.

Then it's just a matter of wiring the bits all together and adjusting the scope to point roughly at poi. Each part took lots of research online, and lots of questions on the night vision forum, so before you do anything you have to spend time reading and researching to get your head around the different options and problems you will find.

Individually or as bundle deal: http://www.sure24.co.uk/solutions/night-vision/kpc-e700-tft-camera-tft5-bundle.htmlThe 5" 800x480 one's are worth the extra for the HD

I've just ordered this one, via Amazon Prime. Free next day delivery for £14.46.

For the price, it's worth a gamble.

Not dissimilar to the ones I use, it'll be fine. I pay about a tenner from China so not a bad price for UK next day delivery. My only problem is the backlight is too bright. I'm going to disassemble one and see if it can be lowered.
