Windy pigeons.

Driving home the last two days I have seen a flight line out of the main part of the estate, along two belts of trees and into some birdy mix. There were as many crows as pigeons. The wind was too good to miss so I went and set up with only a rotary and I hid behind a holly bush.

In an hour I shot 8 pigeons, all of which I was very pleased with.

When the line dried up I went elsewhere. The second venue had a lot of birds on, plenty joining and some at the edge of a wood. It was a long walk so I took only the rotary and two decoys. The hedge at the edge of the wood provided a perfect hide.

Some pigeons came straight into the rotary and were relatively easy. Those flighting with the wind round the corner of the wood were not easy. They were slipping along the wind rising and falling and made for very testing shooting. None flew backwards.

I picked 20 in the second field. This was a very good afternoon.

True, but Mightymariner who has posted may be able to help me out with the odd shot.
