la bala
If you are new to series land rovers and checking for corrosion, have a look where front bumper fits to chassis leg, ie Dumb Iron.

four-wheel-drive
The thing that I can never get my head around is why did it take Landrover 20 years longer than everyone elce to find out about galvanising the chassis to stop this sort of thing going on. I agree with that, been there and done that a few years ago on my series when I coildn't be bothered to wait until the Monday

la bala
After cutting dumb iron off ,there was still an old naff patch on chassis from many moons ago, that had to come off.

la bala
Patch grafted in, new dumb iron offered up for fitting. Decided to use a hole saw on side plates of new dumb iron, should give extra weld strength.

Ditchman, i took measurements from every which way, i finished up bolting the bumper back on, positioning the new dumb iron as needed, and tacked up. Cross referenced with the measurements i already had, i have a discrepancy of 2 mm, am i bothered

Xr1200
Landrover chassis aren't that bad on the whole the problem is when joe bloggs gets his Argos stick welder out and attaches some pigeon poop to hold it together. I put a rear crossmember on mine last year because I couldn't be bothered even attempting to go over the monstrosity someone had put there beforehand
