Nice job.............last time i did that, it wasnt due to rust but front end damage....i !buttoned it".....drilled a load of 1/2" dia holes.......................how did it get so bad in the first place....front member open to the elements and mud and sea water ?

 

how much were the new front irons ?

did you take the measurements from the "bump stop" for spotting the new sections on ?

Ditchman, i took measurements from every which way, i finished up bolting the bumper back on, positioning the new dumb iron as needed, and tacked up. Cross referenced with the measurements i already had, i have a discrepancy of 2 mm, am i bothered :lol:

27 quid, but with next day delivery and vat, just over 50 mate.

Landrover chassis aren't that bad on the whole the problem is when joe bloggs gets his Argos stick welder out and attaches some pigeon poop to hold it together. I put a rear crossmember on mine last year because I couldn't be bothered even attempting to go over the monstrosity someone had put there beforehand

They do gather some works of art over the years :lol: , although chassis wise, if you can get back to good metal you can stick weld.
