Mentalmac
Hi All, Is it considered a little odd to use an umbrella between stands and whilst waiting when clay pigeon shooting? (like golf?) My boss wants me to go with him tomorrow lunchtime for a few clays but it's forecast to rain fairly heavy off and on. I don't mind the weather and getting wet, but he is a little more particular than me. Cheers Chris

I can't see any point stood waiting in the rain everything getting soaked, I'm just aware of not blocking anyone's view or poking any eyes out

figgy
I have a brolly I put in the shooting stick holder on my gunslip, gets used often.
100milesaway
I use my big brolly all the time in heavy rain. What's the point of having one if you don't use it. Now specs are mandatory at most grounds, i don't want to keep wiping my glasses every few seconds.from Auntie.
FinFerNan
I don't recall anyone ever commenting along the lines of the "Wally with the Brolly" However, I must admit whilst I don't normally carry a brolly, there have been times when I wished I had. Bottom line, I'd say it's up to you. Normal rules regarding the use of brollies apply of course.
Zetter
I used one a couple of months ago and got the whatsit ripped out of me by the lads I shoot with. However it was odd that by the end of the shoot there was a sizable group attempting to get under it while waiting to shoot. Also it was handy to keep the cards dry so they didnt resemble paper mache after 7 stands. Personally I dont think there is anything great about getting wet and cold so use any way I can to avoid it. Westley
Thanks chaps, confidence restored and ill take my trusty brolly :-), thanks again Don't forget if your boss is right handed you need to stand behind his left shoulder when holding the umbrella. That is where my valet stands and it works ok for me !
Gozzy
How about one of those novelty umberrlla hats , big enough to keep ye bonce dry and small enough to not get in the way. Have witnessed people wearing worse things while at catton hall
chady
The real question is, can any one shoot a clay and hold an umbrella at the same time......! Edited February 1, 2015 by chady
100milesaway
Providing it's not an overhead or low driven, just put your brolly over the cage ,done it dozens of times. from Auntie.

loriusgarrulus
If you have in ear ear defenders you can just use a broad brimmed waterproof hat.
