crosswaters Posted February 5, 2015 Report Share Posted February 5, 2015 I've had my Leatherman for 12 yrs and used and abused it over that time ,last week the retainer spring snapped on the file blade so wouldn't lock open. I sent the tool away to Whitby@co the uk agent . Today a brand new tool arrived free of charge now that's what I call top after sales service. ph5172 Posted February 5, 2015 Report Share Posted February 5, 2015 I had a file blade snap on mine, sent back to Whitby and 1 repaired and cleaned Leatherman within the week. They even included a nice highlighted hand written note asking me to oil the joints and clean it with Engine / Gun Oil at least once in its life!! activeviii Posted February 6, 2015 Report Share Posted February 6, 2015 I did just the same, took a chunk out the flat blade driver. Sent it back to have a new part put in. It came back a few days later. As the tool was discontinued it was all upgraded. A leatherman gets used with anger. To and from a shoot would seem to be ok but leave it in your car because you forgot it was there and one could be in trouble. It is seemingly ok if it's a tool for your trade and you're at work etc. but if you popped into Tesco's or the pub on the way home and were wearing it then again there is no good reason so an offence. Even the simple little opinel is a no no because when turning the collar it becomes a lock knife. The price we pay because of the activities of scrotes!! Blades of less then 3 inch in a folding style is fine The Swiss multi card, with the 1 inch blabe, still illegal Daft really as I can carry a rifle, or shotgun, in its case and go to local shop but the knife has to be in the boot of car.
