Whitebridges
My cave? If you must know, I drive around most of Norfolk, Cambs and parts of Suffolk during work. I've seen Mainly Ukip and Conservative posters in most places. That's good to know. The two head to head and no SNP thank the Lord.
overandunder2012
Nate Silver is a yank. He knows **** all about the British and how they're likely to vote. It's the same reason Axelrod and Crosby have have ****** up the Labour and Tory campaigns. Negative campaigns may well work in the US and Australia but the British don't like it and will often actively vote against any negative campaigning. we will see, lets see how his predictions add up with the result. Dead-Eyed Duck
You are right it's a real laugh out there being disabled and having to rely on benefits, being unable at times to eat because you need to warm the house, but then again all that money they are paid they should just winter abroad. As both of my parents are disabled and have been for a very long time i think i have a bit of an insight into how people are treated in the system,in a two year period my dad was assessed 4 times the forms run to 50+pages and his health suffers every time because he starts getting panic attacks that they will stop what little he gets. Have a laugh when you read this won't you http://blacktrianglecampaign.org/2012/09/23/these-10-people-killed-themselves-because-of-government-cuts-to-their-benefits-r-i-p-labour-left/ You don't have a monopoly on life's sad experiences to add insight to your life, although I am truly sorry about your parents predicament. I lived in a two up, two down for the first 10 years of my life - there were 6 of us. No hot water taps, the loo at the bottom of the yard, and 'poverty' everywhere. Our next door neighbour worked at the local steel works, and come pay day went straight to the boozer. Coming back home he beat the **** out of his wife. There were 9 living in that two up, two down, and none of the kids wore socks and had holes in their shoes. He had a very good wage, and yet they were poor as church mice. I only mention this anecdote as sometimes there is a background to the 'statistics'. I am certain that his wife would have been first in the queue for the food banks. Learning from my early years I worked damned hard and fortunately have done ok in life. I did vote tory the last time round because of the utter balls-up that Gordon Brown made of the economy - he hadn't learned the life lesson that living on tick and borrowing more ends in disaster. He had one lame excuse, and that was following in the footsteps of that true socialist Tony Blair... This time I won't be voting tory, but I wont be voting 'I have a cure for everything' socialist either.
pimpkiller
Loads of ukip posters around melton mowbray, its a hardcore conservative area (sir alan duncan) but its the cons that have hardly made an effort. I hate that, they aren't even trying because they know people will just vote how they always do

keg
You make some good points, but I don't necessarily agree with this. Food banks are quite convenient for the idiots who waste their money on booze and fags, only to fall back on handouts. We were having the same debate, whilst there are some genuine cases, for others it's convenient.
Dead-Eyed Duck
There is a difference to the world you describe and what is happening now. So are you voting libdem or UKIP? I agree that maybe the world now is different, but there have always been those that take advantage of a system designed to help the unfortunate. For example - a disabled parking sticker for your car. I was offered one some time ago for the princely sum of £15, and quote "You wont have to do any form filling or get a note from the doctors as evidence". This person didn't give a damn about able people parking in spaces reserved for the disabled - all he wanted was a quick buck. Which makes me think when I see all disabled spaces full - how many are legitimate? These scroungers and ******** give the whole system a bad name, but you can bet that they don't give a damn. I will probably be voting UKIP, simply because I do believe in what they are fighting for. Let's ignore the personalities involved, it's what they stand for. For some this may mean that it's a wasted vote, but unless we indicate to the likes of Cameron and Millie wotsit that we have the determination to vote for change, then it will never happen. Dead-Eyed Duck
There is no such thing as a wasted vote - think of it as a wasted opportunity.... I don't. You are quite entitled to keep to the status quo if you want to, and keep on propping up a rotten establishment that is obvious to anyone with a reasonable amount of reflection and thought. poontang
There is no such thing as a wasted vote - think of it as a wasted opportunity.... Over the years I've given them all their opportunity, and very seldom have they come up to scratch. It would be a waste to vote for the same thing again and expect any change. UKIP have a near zero chance of doing much here, but the candidate is a local business man, a decent enough guy who seems genuinely concerned about the way the town is going. Anyone who's lived here any length of time will tell you the place has gone downhill, and fast. None of the other candidates (and our MP is a total ****) seem to have any real interest in the place. UKIP for me this time.

UKIP for me this time. I'm only pulling your collective legs. Deep down I quite like the fact that UKIP are shaking things up, even if I do disagree with their policies and stance and hope that they never, in their current form, gain any power. On the flip side I also find it hillarous that disaffected voters are led to believe that UKIP, and Nigel Farage in particular, will be any different to the 650 MPs of all colours that currently sit in the house. Do you truly think that somehow, against the odds and against what every page of history tells us, that UKIP will behave any differently to any other party??? Well they certainly seem to deal with the idiots amongst them very swiftly and very robustly latest tonight, unlike the lib lab cons who if they dont go to prison, put them to one side for a while and then let them slip in the back door again, like archer who although a fraud and a shoplifter, was made party chairman, till he finally got sent down. FalconFN
To be honest, until they get a shot at any real power we simply won't know. Carswell and Reckless have been behaving themselves so far. You mean as Tory MPs or UKIP? There's a lot of tarring with a certain brush going on in this thread, I'm just pointing out that ukip will be no better (or worse, it has to be said) than any other party regarding scandals, duplicity and nest-feathering. To think otherwise is simply naïve. I won't vote ukip as in my area the man is a plank, the 'manifesto' is half baked at best, their policies are devisive and based on nothing but conjecture (I will concede that pretty much all parties are similar in that respect), whereas our local lib dem incumbent is a good guy, a good MP and a hard worker that does care about the area. As I've said before I'm voting for the man not the party but with a few good lib dem MPs in the house there is a chance of a relatively stable government. I'm at the count on the 7th/8th as a spectator so it will be interesting to see the outcome locally and nationally, whatever it may be. Whoever you vote for the most important thing is you vote and get counted.

Fisherman Mike
Its quite simple in all respects, irrespective of your political leaning and whether you like Dave, Ed, Nige or Clegg, cut through all the rhetoric, sparring and political spin and the unequivical truth of the matter is that if you vote for UKIP you are going to get the SNP...... and England in part administered by the Scots.I can only hope you come to your senses before Thursday and vote responsibly rather than in protest for a party who are in a position to do absolutely nothing of any merit. Serious questions though, do you believe that UKIP are somehow different, and if so why? What is it that has convinced you that UKIP MPs won't lie, twist, spin and play politics like many, if not all other MPs? Is it just blind faith?
