robbiep
Thanks for sharing, always nice to see a good turnout ! The village where I live has one. It's always held on the Saturday of August bank holiday weekend. We aren't able to attend this year, as we fly to Australia on the Friday evening. Home produce, baking, jams, etc. Artwork, photography, we even have a couple of furniture-makers categories ! Ours is held in the village hall, and is always well-supported. I was out a couple of months ago dropping off the show leaflet to the outlying houses, meeting some new people to the area. We also have the Flint and Denbigh county show just 5 miles from home, this year it's on the 20th August. Lots of livestock classes and horse categories in that though. Also gundog demonstration, falconry, etc. I'm taking the day off work for it.

Yellow Bear
Just in the process of moving - local village show (Ashover) is quite large and has been running for about 80 years - will find out Wednesday week how good it is

Scully
Great stuff. We have a carnival and a agricultural show, as do some of the surrounding villages, as well as beer festivals and art shows. I visit them all. I once won the handwriting section in our show while at Primary school. It's been steadily downhill ever since.
ben0850
That's cracking, we have the main steam engine rally and our sheep fair every year but we also have our local church BBQ's, village green sports days etc. Local community events are good for the soul and part of what life's about, I'm sipping a glass of red and nursing singed arms after cooking 120 covers at the church BBQ last night. shaun4860
It's how it should be, Sadly as developers move in and people die out these will eventually fade away which is a bad thing. Village shows are one of life's good things where everyone joins in, UNTIL Tarquin and Pandora buy a holiday cottage in the village, bring their own food from the city and contribute nothing to village life. Sorry for having a rant on OF's post :(
