Fuji Shooter
Hi Picked up and old S3 Land Rover recently and the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to add sound proofing to the cab by using polystyrene sheets. I have managed to remove it all but there are a few dried out glue marks (looks like contact adhesive or similar) still on the metal roof. Anyone have any suggestions for getting it off without too much paint damage? Cheers

Paul223
If it's evo stik type contact adhesive then white spirt works well when fresh but dry, dunno if it'd work with years old glue?

scobydog
Try a bit of nail varnish remover on a small patch, if it works Acetone will be fine I used it on glued up locks and it never failed. S
stumfelter
Don't worry about removing it, if it's a series landy drive it without soundproofing for a fortnight and you'll be desperate enough to try sticking anything back on! DIVERD
The solvent used for removing most contact adhesives is methy Ethyl Ketone. It will dissolve most strong glues, but it will instantly remove any paint as well, and the glue is stuck to paint and the glues solvent breaks down paint then it is rather a waste of time in this situation. A lot of the solvents mentioned above will work well on glue before it has set / cured, but MEK is the only one i know that works well on cured glue.
