Doc Holliday
Just a quick question for those who pay for storing their caravan at a proper caravan/campervan storage place (usually a field if I'm not mistaken). How much does it cost you and for how long. Also, I'd interested in the terms and conditions, if anyone can send me a copy. Many thanks, Doc. point and shoot
Cost of storage varies greatly. It could be £2 - 300 for twelve months or considerably more! It depends where it is - what facilities they provide - what level of security it has ie. electronic key entry - CCTV good secure fencing etc etc. Best to ring around for a few quotes. Terms and conditions are not usually unreasonable, it mainly revolves around security and not leaving gas bottles in the vehicle over winter. Hope this helps. Doc Holliday
Thank you Les. Just looking at the moment and wanted to get a feel for charges and the type of conditions they apply before we buy a campervan.

rimfire4969
We charge about £15 per week short term, but don't do anything long term Local farmer charges about £5 to £10 per week just left in a field with about 10 or 20 others. These people who come highly recommended by me Piran Caravan Storage (try google) charge a lot more but offer a hell of a service, indoor storage, cctv, alarmed, number plate recognition etc. etc. Up to £650 per year. But if your van is worth 20k I know where I would put it.
bigmcg
Last year we paid about £200 for 12 months at an outdoor secure storage site it was CaSSOA gold standard, which gives you a discount on your insurance. bigmcg
ferguson_tom
We have always stored our caravans at farms. One in Bedfordshire was £20 a month, now one in stevange is £30 a month. For all singing and dancing sites could be £700 a year. Although the insurance give a discount to cassoa approved sites it's not massive. Also imo I dont think a site with loads of caravans with loads of people with keys to it is really any safer than an open farm yard with only a few caravans. At both farms the owners get to know us....and they seem to know everything going on in the yard even if there is no sign of them even being at home!! 955i
Campervans can be kept on the road. Caravans it is illegal to keep them outside your house if not connected to a vehicle (and also to keep in front of your house on the drive so I am told by an owner but not sure on this one) Edited September 2, 2015 by 955i
chady
The one about storing it in front of your house depends on covernants on your property. I can't on my house as there is a covernant preventing me doing so but my mum and dads house is fine to do so. Campervans can be kept on the road. loriusgarrulus
On our property you can store a caravan on the property provided it doesn't stand forward of the building line. We have an L shaped bungalow with a driveway taking up the inside of the L shape and a side garden as well so keeping the caravan at home is not a problem. Ticket Tout
Bearing in mind the cost of keeping your caravan on your own drive! As the local dirt bags will know when you are away to burgle your house (the van has gone) it is wise to get a good alarm fitted and maintained. bruno22rf
Not sure bout that Ticket Tout-my son in law never comes with us and moves from the Cabin in our Garden into the house when we go away on our Hols-been weight lifting/body building for over 10 years and would make quite an unwelcoming bloke to meet if you broke in.
