malkiserow
I've been told one of these will be sent to me as they are behind on processing renewals. Are there any restrictions or potential problems with these temporary certificates?

Are there any restrictions or potential problems with these temporary certificates? If your certificate is due to expire while waiting for the renewal, I would suggest that you ask for a Sec' 7 permit, as most police forces do not like giving them. It will only cover you and allow you to keep your firearms in your possession.

They are about 6 weeks behind starting mine, so that could be quite a while before I get the new one. fortune
I was told to carry on as normal. "As long as your in the system, your OK" They cashed the cheque next day after I handed it in. I've been waiting a couple of months now and I haven't heard a dickie bird, no visit, no cert and you cant talk to them and they dont seem to reply to text or voice mail msgs either. Good job I've got enough lead for a year or two and can make more if rqd or get others to get it for me. No doubt I'll surface in the paperwork at some stage. Make it up as you go along it seems to be the thing to do. Edited September 7, 2015 by fortune

Loki
Hi As said above a S7 Temporary Permit only permits the holding of any firearms and ammunition - it does not carry over any conditions on your actual Firearms Certificate (FAC) as to use etc. Whether there is some exemption in law that allows use of conditions on an expired FAC I have not come across it in my 30+yrs - more than happy to be directed to the relevant sections. If Police Services are suggesting that you can continue to use licensed items I would suggest it would be better to be more than cautious with the phrase "As long as your in the system, your OK" rather than find it does not have any legal standing should it go 'messy'................. BASC or your chosen Advisors should be able to provide some clarity on continued use and legal standing. L

old man
Sec 7 permit does not allow any possession of expanding ammunition, this should be lodged with an RFD until the full certificate is returned.
