jam1e
think my most memorable conquest was back in the 70's i was parked illegally outside Captain Americas in norwich in my MG c....and when i came out after a few beers and ribs fries and sweetcorn relish ...i found the rather sexy looking policewoman sitting on my bonnet......she got straight to the point and said .."if you pick me up after my shift ...i wont give you a ticket"..........needless to say i took down her particulars later on in the evening after picking her up at 12 outside Bethnel street station...... the good old days eh ! think my most memorable conquest was back in the 70's i was parked illegally outside Captain Americas in norwich in my MG c....and when i came out after a few beers and ribs fries and sweetcorn relish ...i found the rather sexy looking policewoman sitting on my bonnet......she got straight to the point and said .."if you pick me up after my shift ...i wont give you a ticket"..........needless to say i took down her particulars later on in the evening after picking her up at 12 outside Bethnel street station...... the good old days eh ! ditchman
i changed the manifold pipes for some spare 2nd hand ones i had from a few years ago...high speed wire brushed up then coated with a high temp spray and cooked in the oven for 2 hours @ 300 deg.............. the unit looks quite smart now and no damage to it really...not bad for a 28 year old turbo

Mentalmac
Ditchman, this is a amazing thread - a treat to read and see. Glad you are posting this. Enjoying the odd jokes thrown in. I had a mate who would gag if you opened a packet of mini cheddars in front of him, but that was for a different reason - bet he wished he had used the packet. Back to the engine! ditchman
Now that the turbine is done ..we can start again on the engine....get the flywheel housing off and degrease both faces..
ditchman
the previous pic...i have brushed "clean" with solvant the surfaces....then i will wipe the surfaces with clean kitchen cloth as above.. you can see the grease that comes off wiping the faces....then let it dry and add a thin bead of mastic to the faces ....being careful not to over do it as it will block the return exit for the oil back to the sump... ditchman
the flywheel housing is then attatched to the block and tourqued into position.....there is a nice even thin bead squeezed out which i will leave until cured and then zip off with a knife before i do the same to the sump... ditchman
not much else i can do today....so i have put the engine mountings on ...so i can measure up to make the cradle...then i can turn the engine and weld the cradle to the engine bench, and get the head and ancillaries on........ malkiserow
Ditchie, please stop, right now, today, STOP ..... . . . . . . . . . . I think you need a bit of holly and some evergreen foliage and make a festive centre-of-table display of that beautiful block and bottom end. Make sure the big ends are facing up all polished and adorned with some holly with berries around the little ends. Maybe some mistletoe off the water pump for a bit of kissing at TDC. Don't forget to rotate the crank often over Christmas so it doesn't seize up. Maybe you use plenty of fresh lube ?....if so...... just a few cranks every other day may be enough. Please post up photos .............
