chasechicken
Hi all, Just curious really - we all have good and bad days but what's your average ratio of shots fired to birds bagged when decoying? I'm normally happy if I get 2:1 split, accounting for some taking a second shot and a lot of misses altogether! I've had far worse days though!! WelshMike
Best about 1.2: 1, worst around 3 :1 normally 2:1 and I am not too unhappy. These are 50+ bird averages. I have probably had 5 or 6:1 sessions but only very short sessions.
Harnser
All I can say is that I hit more than I miss . Not all birds are killed out right and some do fly off and are not picked . I wouldn't have a clue what my kill miss ratio is . Harnser
Stonepark
Over decoys, 2:1 on a poor day, 5:4 on a good day.
Farma Geddon
Last time I counted ,a few years ago now , I bought three thousand cartridges and shot 2200 pigeon and crows. Was using a Mossberg 835.

mel b3
if im hitting 50% of the birds that i shoot at im happy . i was having a day on the pigeons a few months ago , id had about 90 birds for 95 shots at one stage , but , the birds were coming from behind me and were on the deck before i could mount the gun (i finished with 123) , a week later i was shooting from the same hide , i had 150 birds for about 350 carts , hardly anything came closer than 25yrds and they were motoring ! , both days were fantastic. chasechicken
I'm hoping mine will go up soon.... I went to the clay range yesterday with a new technique (look at the bird, not down the barrel) and you know.. it really works!! Better late than never.............. ShropshireSam
I still monitor my ratio as hoping to see some improvement....only started shooting 3 years ago. When the birds decoy well I average around a 2:3 ratio my overall average for this year is 1:2. But the best sport is when the wind is up and the birds whizz past, get some corking shots and miss loads but love the sport. If I have a good session on the pigeon I am usually **** on the clays and vice versa.
