waste of money.

get a quality instructor not AA etc.... an independant. Dont take any rubbish. Progress as fast as possible and you will pass in 10 1 hour lessons. which is a damn side cheaper than an intensive. and only took me 2 months. This is someone who coulnt drive before hand. I would rather wait the extra time and put the money towards the rip off insurance.

Well done Flash!

Dunga is right about getting an independant ADI, although i disagree about the 10 hours!, remember dunga that people learn at different rates ..... otherwise a few clay lessons and i will be battering digweed!

Good luck with the driving, i would ring the instructor i suggested in Newton Abbot!, he is a good guy!

Well done.

I learnt to drive in 3 weeks.

Sounds impressive until I tell you it was a 2 hour lesson everyday for three weeks. This was (for me) the best way to learn. Each lesson was long enough to be constantly learning new stuff rather than having to go over what I had done in the previous lesson. Being everyday there was no chance for me to forget in between!

It took my ages to pass compared to my friends but I was the one who didn't have any driving time outside of my lessons the rest of my mates went out 2-3 times a week with their parents and had lessons. One friend passed first time in 5 lessons as his dad (a qualified fighter pilot instructor for the RAF) took him out and taught him first then had the few lessons to iron out any bad habits (which you will pick up again when you pass :good:) As long as you are an ok learner you will find it quite easy, you probably will have mastered the basics in 5 hours but it takes the rest of the time to learn them in practice and apply them!

Driving would be easy if it wasn't for all the other morons! lol

My pops was a driving instructor, so I had free lessons \o/ :good:

Passed the day after my 17th birthday but a cautionary note.. You don't learn to drive, you learn to pass a test, nothing more. Learning to drive happens after the L plates come off

Well done mate

Agree with the comments on here, take your time, it's much better to have a lesson a week and back it up with practice with your mum or dad, don't get into any of your parents bad habits and remember passing the theory doesn't mean you can now forget everything in the highway code.

When I passed I thought I was god gifts to driving and it wasn't till I'd had a couple of near misses and a collision with a wall that I realised I wasn't.

Two tips for the test, make sure the examiner sees you looking in your mirrors all the time and when you pass get a lesson or two on motorways before you go on your own.

Yeah pass plus is brilliant! Quite fun, just driving round with your instructor with no L plates and its really good experience for motorways. Plus it knocked around £500 off my insurance :good: so worth the £160 just from a cost saving perspective!

Congrats mate, I passed my theory on the.......... 5th attempt!! Passed the theory part 5 times outta five failed that flippin Hazard Perception part 4 outta 5 times. I just couldnt concentrate on it, id be watching the screen ready for a hazard then start reading what the buttons did on the monitor, or trying to count how many hand-wipes where in the bowl beside me.... Shows how long my attension span is doesnt it.....

Dibbz I hope that I am never on the same piece of road as you, as I get the feeling you'll be driving along, start counting the numbers on the speedo and vere off the road. :good:

You have to be concentrating 100% of the time when you're driving as it only takes that small lack of concentration for you to miss the person stepping off the zebra crossing and plough into them.

Sorry for the minor rant not having a go at you but I see so many people texting, doing their make up, reading maps etc they should all receive an automatic lifetime ban and don't get me started on morons who sit in the outside lane or middle lanes while other lanes are empty. Grrrrrr :good:

i did 10 2 hour lessons which personal i found more than enough, i covered all of the area's i needed to in 12 lessons (coming i say again from no driving experiance and also having no car to practice in outside of lessons) and then spent another 8 lessons of 2 hours driving test routes and basicalyl fine tuning what i needed to know and do.
